Abstract

1. Apparatus for bending a sheet metal pipe (1) with a deformation of the metal in at least one cross section so as to form a hollow eccentric ridge (2) protruding from the surface of the pipe, this apparatus comarising a bending device (40) intended to be introduced into the pipe and provided with a radial expansion organ in the form of a disc (48) to form the ridge (2), and a device for maintaining the pipe (22, 23, 30) in the zone of the ridge, and a frame (10) supporting these devices, characterised in that the bending device is arranged so as to push internally against the pipe uniquely by the radial expansion organ (48, 60), in that this device for maintaining the pipe comprises a stop organ (30) arranged to push against the outside surface of the pipe on the outer edge of the bend to be formed, with respect to the expansion device (48, 60), in such a way as to prevent the formation of the ridge (2) on the outside edge of the bend and to push back the expansion organ towards an eccentric position on the inside edge of the bend, and in that the apparatus comprises at least one device for bending the pipe laterally (12, 13, 16, 17) to produce a deviation of the section of pipe situated on one side of the ridge with respect to the section situated on the other side.
