Abstract

An end closure (10) for a container has a central panel wall (12) with a product side and a public side. A displaceable tear (20) panel (20) is in the central panel wall, and is at least substantially defined by a frangible score (22) and a non-frangible hinge segment (24). The end closure also has a tab (26) attached to the public side of the central panel wall at a location spaced apart from the tear panel. At least a nose (30) portion of the tab extends over a portion of the tear panel. A lift end (32) of the tab is opposite the tab nose. A central webbing (42) of the tab is between the nose and the lift end. A chemical adhesive (60) located on the end closure to inhibit rotation of the tab. The chemical adhesive is located on the public side of the central panel wall or on the tab.
