Abstract

The present invention proposes a waistband for an item of clothing, for example a skirt, a pair of trousers or the like, having an inner and an outer waistband strip (2; 4) present in the form of a cut part in one or more pieces, the inner and outer waistband strips (2; 4) being connected to one another in a rectilinear manner along a top waistband edge (6). The resulting waistband is a shaped waistband (1) and, for this purpose, an additional strip (18) is positioned between the inner surfaces (20; 22) of the inner and outer waistband strips (2; 4), these inner surfaces being directed towards one another when the inner and outer strips have been connected to one another and folded together, and this additional strip can be deformed, and connected to the waistband strips (2; 4), such that the top waistband edge (6) is shorter than the bottom waistband edge, this resulting in a shape which is typical of a shaped waistband (1) and is similar to the circumferential surface of a tapered disc. The invention also indicates a method of producing the waistband and an item of clothing provided therewith.
