Abstract

The present invention is a food packaging system that includes a lifting basket (10) positioned within the food holding portion of the container. The lifting basket (10) forms a protective cage about the food product that allows a user to remove the food product in a sanitary manner without damage. The lifting basket (10) generally includes a base (12) that allows for drainage, and a clam shell style cage (15) that allows for easy access to the food product. A foldable handle (14) is attached to the top of the cage. With the container lid in place, the foldable handle is positioned within the container.
