Chair, more especially used as a seat for public transport vehicles, comprising a seat support and a spring assembly, which is disposed on the seat support, such component parts serving as supporting members for a cushioning pad, which is mounted on a separate upholstery frame, retained as a whole on the seat support, and said pad is formed by a cushioning plate which is shaped to correspond to the upholstery frame and engages partially around the struts of the upholstery frame, which plate is retained against the frame by means of the cover covering the padding, characterised in that the upholstery frame (4) is provided with truncated hooks (17) which, after said frame has been mounted on the seat support (1), lie on the frame of said seat support and serve to hook the upholstery cover in position, and the upholstery frame (4) is provided with elements for clipping it onto the seat support.
