Abstract

The method involves providing a sheet-like substrate with a recess that is formed via an opening in the substrate, where the opening is closed by a film on two sides. Additional security features are formed, and a coating is applied on the film such that a part of the coating adjoins a contour in a custom-fit manner. The contour defines a recessed region of the substrate from a region of the substrate surrounding the recess. The film is printed using a printing ink by offset printing. An independent claim is also included for a transfer element comprising a carrier layer.
