Abstract

The invention relates to a lock (2) for a door or a window, comprising at least one leaf or sash (3) supported at least pivotally on a frame (4), and a bolt (10) automatically protruding in the closed position by magnetic force and associated with a strike plate (11) on the frame (4). In order to refine a lock of the type mentioned above such that it has high practical value, it is provided that the bolt (10) is a latch (15) having a first magnet (16), said latch in a locking position engaging in a bolt opening (19) of the strike plate (11) and protruding from the lock housing, and that a second magnet (18) is provided in the strike plate (11), wherein the first and second magnets (16, 18) are disposed relative to each other such that in the closed position of the leaf or sash (3) the latch (15) is displaced into the strike plate (11), and wherein the latch (15) in the non-surface parallel position of the leaf or sash (3) is fixed in the lock (2) in that the first magnet (16) interacts with the lock housing or a magnetic metal part supported therein.
