Abstract
The invention relates to a method for preparing particles of uniform size from drugs or other water-insoluble organic compounds. Firstly, a suitable solid organic compound is dissolved in an organic solvent and the solution may be diluted with a non-solvent liquid. Next, an aqueous precipitant liquid is infused, precipitating non-aggregated particles with substantially uniform mean diameters. The particles are then separated out from the organic solvent. Depending on the organic compound and on the size of the particles which is desired, in accordance with the invention the parameters of temperature, ratio of non-solvent liquid to organic solvent, speed of infusion, speed of agitation and volume may vary.
