Abstract

The fluidisable products of high initial humidity are dried by the fluidised-bed process, in particular heat-sensitive products such as, for example, casein, lactose, proteins and the like. It is proposed that these products are pre-dried in a first stage by the pneumatic-layer process and then finally dried in a second stage by the fluidised-bed process. In this way, overheating in the pneumatic-layer drier (12, 14) and problems due to inadequate fluidisation on the inlet side of the fluidised-bed drier (10) are avoided.
