Abstract

In the case of an oil pump, which comprises a feed pump, a series of valves, an output line and a burner nozzle connected to the latter, there is a displacement piston connected to the output line, preferably close to the burner nozzle, which piston is displaced in a cylinder when the oil pump is switched off and consequently creates an inner space in which the oil is sucked out of the output line and the burner nozzle. When operation is commenced, the piston moves back again and forces the oil out of the inner space into the output line, so that the latter is then already filled with oil when pressure is applied, so that a steeper pressure increase occurs at the burner nozzle than was possible previously in the case of oil burners with oil scavenging. <IMAGE>
