1. Hydraulic fluid consisting of a) 20 to 60 percent by weight, relative to the total weight of the fluid, of at least one boric acid ester of the formula I see diagramm : EP0023700,P8,F1 wherein R is an alkyl group with 1 to 6 carbon atoms, R**1 is an alkyl group with 1 to 10 carbon atoms, and x and y are an integer from 1 to 4, b) 35 to 80 percent by weight, relative to the total weight of the fluid, of at least one compound selected from the group consisting of b1 ) ethylene glycol monoalkyl ethers of the formula II R**3 (OCH2 CH2 )n - OH wherein R**2 is an alkyl group with 1 to 6 carbon atoms and n is an integer from 1 to 6, b2 ) ethyleneglycol dialkyl ethers of the formula III R**3 (OCH2 CH2 )n OR**4 wherein R**3 and R**4 are an alkyl group with 1 to 6 carbon atoms and n is an integer from 1 to 6 ; and b3 ) bis-(ethylene glycol monoalkyl ether)-formals of the formula IV R**5 (OCH2 CH2 )n O - CH2 - O(CH2 CH2 O)n R**6 wherein R**5 and R**6 are an alkyl group with 1 to 6 carbon atoms and n is an integer from 1 to 6 ; and c) 0 to 10 percent by weight, relative to the total weight of the fluid, of at least one inhibitor.
