Abstract

To increase the washing power at low washing temperatures, washing agents of a conventional composition contain a washing power enhancer consisting of fatty acid ethanolamides or C12-C18-alkylamines ethoxylated with 1-5 mol of ethylene oxide. The high foam activation of these compounds is compensated by a foam-suppressant additive consisting of a special polydimethylsiloxane (molecular weight maxima at 50,000) which is activated with hydrophobic silica and has a viscosity of 10,000 to 40,000 mPa.s at 25 DEG C. The ratio of washing power enhancer to foam inhibitor is preferably 4 : 1 to 2 : 1 by weight and the content of both additives in the washing agent is 1 to 5 % by weight. The agents are suitable for manual and mechanical laundering.
