Abstract

A centrifuge (1) has on its rotating drum (2) a concomitantly rotating folding lid (7) which can be locked in the closed position and on its centrifuge housing (4) a housing lid (10) which does not rotate concomitantly and can be folded for the purpose of opening and closing. A remote-controllable unlocking device (11) for the folding lid (7) is provided in the centrifuge housing (4) and the housing lid (10) and the folding lid (7) have a coupling which is connected during the opening of the two lids (7 and 10) and can be released in their closed position, by which means they are connected to one another during the opening so that the opening of the housing lid (10) leads automatically to the opening of the drum lid (7). Thus, despite the permanent swivel connection of the lid (7) to the drum (2), the said lid can be opened and closed automatically and thus the removal and insertion of containers (5) into the drum (2) can be automised. <IMAGE>
