Abstract

A cleaning apparatus for facades, ceilings and similar surfaces with the aid of a sand-blasting method with an environmental compatibility achieved by the dust which collects during the cleaning not escaping into the atmosphere or contaminating adjacent living or street areas. The sand-blast nozzle (10) is surrounded by a protective hood (14) which is placed with an adaptable seal (22) against the surface to be cleaned and contains in the interior suction openings arranged in such a way that a suction flow, closing off the inner dirt-collecting space (20), or a vacuum curtain appears past the peripheral seal. Instead of a portable protective hood, an accessible working cabin can be used which can be moved on a scaffold (60) or by means of a crane (26) and in which an operator manipulates the sand- blast nozzle, the cabin being connected via hose lines to an exhaust- air purifying unit on the ground. <IMAGE>
