Abstract
The process according to the invention is intended for the manufacture of bow- and crook-like bent wire-shaped articles (10) destined for use in letter-sorting mechanisms. These wire-shaped articles are lined up in the course of their prefabrication with the formation of at least one continuous conveyor strand in an intercalated and mutually touching order, compressible in the direction of conveying up to mutual impact of their bow webs and extensible in the opposite direction. According to the invention, these wire-shaped articles are nickel-plated by continuously separating off individual strand sections (24) with a number of wire- shaped articles from the conveyor strand. Within the strand section, the wire-shaped articles are, with retention of their order, brought into electrical contact with a contact electrode directly or indirectly via adjoining wire-shaped articles and immersed in this form in packs into at least one bath provided for carrying out the electroplating process and moved through the bath. After the electroplating process, the individual strand sections can then simply be re-assembled to give a continuous conveyor strand and passed to the further treatment and assembly stations for the wire-shaped articles. <IMAGE>
