Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain yarns of final product at least at about 1,000 m/minute speed by subjecting a polypropylene to melt spinning and drawing the product under specific conditions, for example, 8 to 16 yarns or a great number of yarns more than 16 yarns by one apparatus. CONSTITUTION: Filaments F in a number enough to form at least 8, preferably 12 to 16 continuous multifilament yarns S, each consisting of at least 10 filaments are extruded from a spinneret apparatus 11 at >=400 m/minute extrusion rate simultaneously to air quenching zones 121 and 122 to solidify the filaments. The solidified filaments are conducted through strand collecting apparatus 131 and 132 to a cylinder 141 of a drawing apparatus 14 to form a strand array A. The length of traveling path in contact with cylinders 141 to 144... in the drawing apparatus 14 is 1,000-6,500 mm. At least 50% of the length of the contact traveling path is obtained by 2 to 6 cylinders and the strand array is taken up at least at 1,000 m/minute.
