Abstract
The transverse thruster consists of a transverse-thrust passage, formed in the hull and consisting of a tunnel tube, and a transmission housing arranged in this transverse-thrust passage and having a propeller, air-discharge openings (30) being formed in or at the wall (22) of the tunnel tube (21) in order to reduce noise during start-up, which air-discharge openings (30) are connected to an air compressor via at least one air-supply tube (31) and are of appropriate size for forming a finely distributed air flow. <IMAGE>
