Abstract

The applicator uses a sponge (17) to apply the shoe cream and fits on top of a can (10) which contains the cream under pressure. The sponge is supported on a block (15) with a hole (16) through the middle to convey the cream to a hole (18) through the sponge. The bottom (15e) of the hole in the block is widened to fit over a discharge nozzle (13) of the can, and which acts as a valve. The block is retained inside an adaptor tube (14) with its skirt (14e) shaped to lock over the rim (12a) of the can. Travel of the block is limited by a flange (14a) around the top of the adaptor. A cover (19) is fitted. In alternative designs, the sponge is carried by an angled adaptor surface, and behind it is a tube which fits over a nozzle of reduced diameter projecting from the top of the can. The skirt of the adaptor has different designs to fit onto the top of the can.
