Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a device for cleaning the blankets of a web-fed rotary offset printing machine when the web (1) is running. Since the washing means, used for dissolving the ink and paper residues on the blanket, passes via the printed web (1) into the dryer, an undesirably high evaporation of solvent can occur in the dryer. As a preventive measure, the loading of solvent on the web (1) is acted upon in that a scraping contact (9) is formed before the web enters the drying route and/or a pre-evaporation is applied by suction to lower the concentration. The measure extends over the period of the blanket cylinder (5) being washed until the last section of the web receiving transferred washing means has passed through. The suction device (14) is preferably connected to the exhaust air cleaning system, arranged downstream of the dryer.
