Abstract

A toothed gearing, which is suitable in particular for driving the two spiral shafts of a twin-screw extruder, possesses a drive wheel 1, two intermediate wheels 3, 4 on the drive side, two intermediate wheels 3', 4' on the take-off side, and a power take-off wheel 2. The intermediate wheels 3, 4 on the drive side engage with the drive wheel 1, whereas the intermediate wheels 3', 4' on the take-off side engage with the power take-off wheel 2. Two intermediate wheels 3, 4', which do not engage with each other, are mounted in a frame 5 which is freely movable in the gearing housing, whereas all other wheels are fixedly mounted in the gearing housing. By means of the gearing according to the invention, a substantial equalization of load is automatically achieved in the distribution of the torque to be transmitted to the power take-off wheel 2. <IMAGE>
