Abstract

The printing device (12) is constructed as an independent modular unit and so arranged that the print head (13) is located in front of a counter-pressure roller (14) which is mounted beside the deflection roller (8) of the document processing equipment, which roller does not extend across the full width of the document, in such a manner that its crown line facing the print head (13) runs aligned with a corresponding crown line of the deflection roller (8). The modular unit is held in guidance elements and can be drawn out from the printing position along the guidance elements tangentially to the crown line of the counter-pressure roller (14). Preferably, a print head (13) having a thermal ink ribbon (16) transported synchronously with the document, and operating by the thermal transfer principle serves as the printing device (12). <IMAGE>
