Abstract

A lighting systems comprises main circuit breaker equipment (1) and a supply line (2) connected thereto for supplying current to the lighting system through the supply line (2) and for discontinuing the current supply to the lighting system. The lighting system further comprises at least two lighting sections (10) connected in parallel to the supply line (2). The lighting sections (10) which contain discharge lamps for their part comprise conductors (4, 4', 5, 5') for supplying electric current from the supply line (2) to the groups (6, 6') of light fittings, and a compensating unit (8, 8') which comprises at least one capacitor and is connected in parallel with at least two groups of light fittings over wires (4, 4', 5, 5'). Furthermore, third harmonic filter means (9, 9', 9a) are connected to at least one neutral wire contained in the lighting system, said filter means being adapted to filter off the third harmonic from the neutral wire of the lighting system.
