Description

18.532 17 The present invention is concerned with extruded shaped additives. products comprising inorganic binders, fillers and A method is known for manufacturing shaped asbestos cement products in which a hydromodifier is added during the forming 60% asbestos processes to a cement mixture consisting of 1.0 to of fibres, 10 to 85% cement and 14 to 50% water, for the purpose ensuring its plasticity and stability of shape (see Austrian Patent Specification No. 256,689). Conventional aggregates, such. process. as sand, may be added to the mixture before the shaping The hydromodifiers used may be organic substances having a molecular weight above 400, for example, methyl cellulose, ethylene oxide polymers, acrylic acid copolymers, polyvinyl alcohol and the like. German Patent Specification No. 814,421 discloses the compounds manufacture, by extrusion, of shaped components from containing anhydride, wherein small amounts of high molecular starch weight glue-like substances, such as cellulose ethers, or the like, are added to the mixing water used for the anhy- drite. These substances may also, if desired, be mixed with the anhydrite during grinding thereof. Austrian Patent Specification No. 205,400 describes a method of manufacturing building boards and insulating bricks made of medium-fine ground anhydrite binder, calcined gypsum saw- and water, optionally with the addition of fillers, such as dust, chaff, reeds, vermiculite and the like, the compositions apparatus. being mixed before extrusion and kneaded in a suitable Furthermore, German Patent Specification .No. 812,414 dis- closes a method of manufacturing building elements, such as roof tiles or the like, wherein natural or synthetic Anhydrite is formed into a paste with water, optionally after

If it-is desired to obtain achieve adequate strength the products, with cement a stronger product more quickly, be after-treated in an autoclave; and/or lime as binder, must calcium sulphate as binder, in the case of products containing is not possible. however, this after-treatment invention to provide It is an object of the present based on inorganic hydraulic a composition for shaped bodies of which is not only capable binders, together with fillers,' within also attains great strength satisfactory extrusion but requiring auto-clave treatment. a short period of time, without invention, there is Thus, according to the present least body formed from resin, at provided an extruded shaped wherein, and at least one filler, one inorganic hydraulic binder containing at least one amino resin as resin, there is used at least an amino-s-triazine containing acid groups and hLsed on two NH2 groups. to the present invention, It surprising that, according is only to possible, with the aid of the resin additive, not it is of the but also high early strength achieve good extrudability extruded shaped Darts. are amino resin must contain The acid groups which the groups. preferably sulphonic acid

1 532 p7 Even small additions of the.resin containing acid groups, i.e. from 0.1 to 5% by weight, preferably 0.5 to X* by weight, of solid resin, referred to the binders used, are adequate. The amino resins containing acid groups and based on an amino-s-triazine containing at least two NH2 groups which are used are preferably the liquid and solid types of resin conuercially available under the Registered Trade Mark "Melment". These are condensation products, containing sulphonic acid groups, of an amino-s-triazine containing at least two NH 2 groups and formaldehyde. 20% aqueous solutions of these resins have viscosities of from 3 to 500 cP. In addition, for.certain binder mixtures it is also convenient to add small amounts of an anionic surface active agent, i.e. 0.01 to 1% by weight, preferably 0.05 to 0.1% by weight, referred to the binders used. Extrudability is thereby further improved, without the strength values being substantially impaired. Anionic surface active agents which can be used for this purpose are commercially available products, for example, sodium salts of alkylaryl-sulphonic acids or sodium salts of a sulphonated fatty acid condensation product. Portland cement, calcium sulphate, magnesite binders and lime can be used as binders. The substances employed as fillers for shaped parts on the basis of the above-mentioned binders are for example, powdered minerals, sand (maximum grain size 15 vermiculite. perlite, puzzolana, organic fibre materials, such as cellulose, and also inorganic fibre materials, such as asbestos and rock wool.

1 ,532 7o Potassium sulphate is advantageously added in small
amounts, as a known accelerator, in the extrusion of anhydrite
mixtures.
The term "extruded shaped parts" used herein is intended
to comprise, for example finished parts, such as boards, pipes,
street and road building parts, window frames, window boards,
beams, swimming pool surrounds, fireproof shaped bodies, spacers, bearer ceilings, and profiled bodies of various types.
An important advantage of the shaped bodies according to
the present invention is, in particular, their good early
strength which, for example, in the case of anhydrite bound
shapedbodies substantially shortens thehardening time and, ih
the case of cement-bound shaped bodies, renders an autoclave
after-treatment unnecessary.
SAnother advantage is the good extrudability of the mix- tures described which, amongst other things, results in low
current consumption.
The following Examples are given for the purpose of
illustrating the present invention:-
EXAMPLE 1 24 parts by weight of sand (maximum grain size 5 mm.),
2.4 parts by weight of ground mineral and 8 parts by weight of
Portland cement 2.75 are premixed dry in a forced circulation
mixer, whereupon water and the additives indicated in Table 1
are added and mixing is continued. The mortar obtained is extruded through a 4 x 4 cm. nozzle.
Two days after production, the extruded products are cut and
their -tensile bending and compressive strengths determined.
The results are shown in Table 1.
