Abstract

Le procédé consiste à : (i) mélanger une solution aqueuse de formaldéhyde à 30-50 % et de l'urée en un rapport molaire formaldéhyde-urée de 2:1 à 3:1 et à pH 6-11 ; (ii) chauffer ce mélange à 50 degrés C au moins ; (iii) ajouter un acide pour amener le mélange à pH 0,5-3,5 ; (iv) chauffer le mélange à une température comprise entre 80 degrés C et la température de reflux ; (v) ajouter une base pour amener le mélange à pH 6,5-9 tout en le maintenant à 80 degrés C au moins ; et (vi) ajouter de l'urée jusqu'à ce que le rapport molaire formaldéhyde-urée soit de 0,8:1 à 1,8:1. Une variante du procédé permet d'obtenir des résines particulaires solides.
