 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

     La fig.7 est une élévation d'une partie du trans- porteur emportant la touteille terminée.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Celui-ci est formé par deux courroies verticales v, portant de distance en distanoe des plaquettes courbées x;une autre courroie   v  est disposée au-dessous.Quand la bouteille est amenée au voisinage de l'entrée du transporteur, deux pla- quettes x se ferment sur la bouteille, comme montré fig.6;

    "IMPROVEMENTS IN AUTOMATIC MACHINES TO BE MANUFACTURED
BOTTLES AND OTHER HOLLOW GLASS OBJECTS "
The present invention relates to automatic machines for the manufacture of bottles and other hollow glass objects, comprising a series of sets of blank molds, ring molds and finishing molds, which simultaneously rotate around the vertical axis. of the machine and come into contact with fixed cam plates producing the various movements required at the desired instants.

   In existing machines the set
1 rotary performed movements separated by stopping times.

   This succession of movements and stops has drawbacks because of 1; inertia enough

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 large that such a machine has. - In addition, the resumption of movement after each stop cannot be instantaneous and the overall speed is thereby slowed down and production reduced
The object of the present invention is to improve machines of this kind, by eliminating downtime, and thereby increasing their efficiency while reducing the motive force which is necessary for them.

   In accordance with the invention, all of the sets of molds rotate continuously, but the speed varies at each instant depending on the stages of manufacture.

   In addition, this speed can be varied according to the nature of the objects to be manufactured and that of the glass worked.

     The invention is characterized essentially, by the combination, with the system of sets of molds rotating around a common axis and of the members intended to produce the functioning of the various molds and accessories at the time required, of a control device making it possible to impart to the sets of molds a speed which sometimes increases and sometimes. decreases gradually and without shock.

   These progressive variations in speed make it possible to obtain:
During slow periods an easy pouring of the glass into the blank mold, an easy grip of the finished bottle.

   During rapid periods, rapid opening and closing of mussels.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   During the whole of the two periods, a gradual reversal of the parison in the open air, the reversal movement starting during the slow period to be eliminated during the fast period.

   In the preferred embodiment, the speed variations are produced by interposing in the transmission system between the motor and the eccentrically shaped gear control plate, so that the ratio of the spokes of the The teeth in mesh are constantly varying, producing corresponding increases or decreases in speed. The invention is also characterized by an automatic device consisting essentially of a rotating gripper which grips the finished bottle and brings it onto a conveyor.

   Finally, the invention is characterized by a special conformation of the conveyor which receives the bottles of the previous apparatus and transports them to the baking oven.

   To clarify the ideas, there is shown in the accompanying drawing, given by way of example only, an embodiment of the invention.

   -view in
Fig. 1 is an elevation of the assembly, shown in part only and schematically.

   Fig. 8 is a plan view.

   Fig. 3 is a section through A-A and fig. 4 a cut by B-B of the fi.g2.

   Fig. 5 is a view. plan of the gear train producing the speed variations.

   Fig.6 is an elevational view of the rotary gripper conveyor.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

     Fig. 7 is an elevation of part of the conveyor carrying the finished tip.

   Fig. 8 is a plan view of the conveyor system.

   As can be seen in this drawing, in the example shown, the machine comprises 10 sets of molds, 1,2,3 .. distributed over the entire circumference of the assembly rotating around the axis a, fig. 2.Each set includes blank mold, ring mold and finisher mold and contacting organs! fixed cam plates, determine the operation of the various devices, in each set of molds at the desired times. These devices are of known arrangement.

   The rotary assembly is actuated by means of a plate b carrying a toothed crown c, ig.4, the latter receiving its movement from the following mechanism:
A fixed electric motor d, figs. 2 and 3, carries on its shaft a small pinion e meshing with a toothed wheel f. This can cause friction 'produced by the springs g, fig.3, a sleeve g carrying a. pi-, gnon g2. This meshes with a wheel h.

   This device forms a force limiter and allows the motor to continue running in the event that an unforeseen cause blocks the mechanism.
The wheel h is integral with an angle pinion i, meshing with a wheel j rotating around an axis k. With this wheel, a wheel k1 meshing with a wheel k2,
These two wheels, as can be seen more clearly in fig. 5, are not circular, but each formed

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 of a series of shorts of different radii, suitably connected together. Of course, the sum of the lengths of the spokes ending in the teeth in engagement is constant.

   These wheels can be elliptical, or else formed by connected arcs of ellipse, or by arcs of circles connected to each other, etc. The wheel k2 is wedged on an axis 1, fig. 4, able to drive, by by means of a friction clutch m and tocs m1 a toothed wheel n; this meshes with an intermediate wheel o, itself meshing with another wheel p integral with a pinion q, meshing with the toothed crown ±.

   It will therefore be understood that when the motor: operates 11 drives at very low speed, by means of the speed reduction transmission system which has just been described, the crown ± and the plate b, and thus rotates all the rotating assembly.

   If an unexpected resistance occurs, the force limiter f g comes into play and prevents. any accident.

   The speed of the plate b varies at each instant depending on the parts of the wheels k1 k2 which are engaged.

  We thus obtain the slow periods and the fast periods defined above.

   If you want to disengage the system, 1 turn a flywheel r, fig.4, secured to a screw r1; this releases the plate m and the plugs m1, when these members are put back into engagement the plugs ensure the replacement without shifting. It will be noted that there cannot be a shift of half a turn, because the two knocks are not on the same radii and each of the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

 two tocs can only enter the accommodation that corresponds to it.

   When a bottle is finished and it occupies the position u 'shown in fig. 8, it is gripped by a spring clamp s, fig.; 6, carried by a rotating support s1; this is actuated by a wheel toothed s2 engaged with a toothing s3 of a plate b, so as to make a half turn when the plate b turns a tenth of a turn, substituting one set of molds for another. The outer parts of the clamp are engaged in a circular slide u, of variable width ', producing the opening of the clamp or allowing it to close.

   The gripper grasps the bottle in position u1, fig. 2, makes a half turn and places it in u on a transporter,
This is formed by two vertical belts v, carrying at a distance apart from the curved plates x; another belt v is placed below. When the bottle is brought to the vicinity of the inlet of the conveyor, two plates x close on the bottle, as shown in fig. 6;

  the slit of the bottle rests on the v1 belt. The three appropriate movement belts. rocks pout at speed 'driven by a return /
Although the invention has been shown as applied to a multiple machine, it is understood that it is applicable to all machines for making the bottles whether they are single or multiple, automatic or not, for printing on the plate. carries the molds in a continuous circular motion at variable speed.

   The above arrangements are given by way of example only; the shapes, dimensions, materials employed and any detailed arrangements may vary without changing the principle of the invention.
