<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"IMPROVEMENTS TO VALVES, IN PARTICULAR TO THOSE FOR TIRES" @ The invention relates to valves, and in particular it relates to valves for pneumatic tires.
Its main purpose is to establish them in a simpler way, while ensuring them such a perfect operation and therefore obtaining greater convenience and a lower cost price than for valves of this kind proposed until now. .
It consists, in order to constitute them; to have recourse, as known, to a metal tube forming an air introduction nozzle and connected to the air chamber by the combination of a flange, a washer and a nut, but the said nozzle being provided at a suitable point with its internal bore ;. a shoulder forming a seat on which a ball valve rests, the latter made of any material provided that its weight is low relative to its volume; to have further recourse, to complete the valve arrangement, to a plug pierced with an axial opening, engaged by screwing into the bore of the tube defined above and holding the valve box in place while forming
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
attached with it.
Advantageously, this base will be lined with an elastic material, so that the perfect sealing of the valve is ensured *
In the accompanying drawing, of course only given by way of example, a preferred embodiment has been shown.
Fig. 1 shows, in section, the entire valve, and FIG. 2 shows, on a larger scale part in section, the detail of the valve box
1 designates the nozzle or valve tube. provided at its base with a flange 2 and, on its external face with a thread, allowing adaptation of the usual cap,
The tube 1 is perforated according to its this perforation having in 3 a suitable shoulder to receive a valve box.
The remaining part of the perforation has a diameter at least equal to that of the valve box; it is further threaded over most of its length to receive a plug 5 provided with an axial perforation.
The valve box 4 is constituted, as clearly visible in FIG. 2, by a portion;. Of tube, one of the circular borings of which is brought back somewhat towards the inside, so as to constitute a seat for a ball 6 which may be made of any suitable material, such that its weight is low compared to its volume, and preferably by a hollow body,
This ball is normally held on its seat by tabs forming a spring 7 cut from the material of the tube and shaped substantially as shown.
These tabs will advantageously be three in number to suitably support the ball all around its periphery and the latter is placed in the intro.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
lowering by the wide part of the tube and bringing it to its seat by pushing back the tabs. The result is an extremely simple valve, of economical construction, in which the ball can be replaced very easily if it is found, as a result of matting or otherwise, a leakage.
With the valve box positioned on the shoulder as shown in fig, 1, the cap 5 is screwed on, which bears by its base on the edge of the re-entrant lip of the box 4.
The base of the perforated stopper completes the seat of the ball 6 and, advantageously, this base will be provided with a gasket of elastic material and for example a rubber washer 8 thus ensuring * a perfect seal of the valve.
If desired, a square part 9 can be formed at the end of the stopper 5 to facilitate assembly.
Although the invention has been described with reference to a particular embodiment, it goes without saying that it encompasses the variants and the modifications established on the basis of the same principles.
