 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 7>

  Steam generator
The present invention relates to the construction of a steam generator and particularly of a steam generator in the form of a vertical vessel or well, of circular or polygonal cross section, without a body or steam space, that is to say. that is, a generator which consists exclusively of a heated tube system, which is arranged in the space of the vessel or well. Of

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 generators of this kind which have heretofore had disadvantages in that it has only been possible to obtain a good uniform heat transfer to the pipe system with the aid of special measures . This problem is particularly difficult when it comes to applying large amounts of heat in a short time.

   Until now, this problem has only been able to be solved by installing a nozzle furnace. It is true that a good and rapid heat transfer can be obtained in this way, but this result is only obtained by the use of an expensive fuel or by the aid of expensive auxiliary arrangements, for example grinders. coal dust, etc ...

   The present invention makes it possible to burn under generators of this type, with such a good efficiency, lump fuels, in particular fuels of inferior quality, such as lignite, and this, because the hearth is arranged in the same axis. than the tank.

   The accompanying drawings show schematically, by way of example, some embodiments of the object of the present invention. Fig. 1 shows a steam generator according to the invention, which generator is particularly suitable for heating with coal.

  In this steam generator, the grid is conical and has a lower propulsion of the fuel. The coal is conveyed by a conveyor screw 1 to the conical grate 2. This arrangement is particularly favorable for hard coal for the following reasons: the sliding of the coal down on the grate causes the grate surface to increase. more and more for the dreary amount of fuel. The cool coal is conducted far down and the hot gases pass over this coal. As a result, a large distillation zone is formed towards the top which effectively helps

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 to good combustion. In space 3 of the tank, the generator tubes, not shown, have been placed.

   After leaving the vessel space 3, the combustion gases pass through an annular space 4 in which other heating surfaces have been placed, for example superheater or reheater heating surfaces, and the gases leave the chamber. steam generator by an annular space 5, which can be used as a heating space.

   Figs, 2, 3 and 4 show a steam generator which is particularly suitable for heating with wet lignite. With wet lignite there is a problem that the moisture content must be greatly reduced before combustion. This problem can be solved relatively simply in combination with a steam generator according to the invention. In the steam generator of fig. 2, the grate is funnel-shaped and is arranged so that the coal is brought to it under the action of its own weight.

  The charcoal is loaded into a hopper 6 and falls from this hopper through an annular space 7 on the funnel grill 8. The combustion gases pass through the bowl space 9, in which the general tubes have been placed. - steam rators, and are conducted, in the same current as the coal, also through the annular space 7.

   Fig. 3 shows three different constructions of this heating space In part I, rectangular ducts 8 have been arranged in space 7, which are rationally made of metal. The coal slides downwards in these ducts and is strongly dried in this descent by the hot combustion gases which pass through the intermediate spaces 9. In part II, instead of the rectangular ducts 8, tubes are provided.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

10, which are licked on all sides by the combustion gases.

   Part III shows another possible construction of the drying arrangement. In this part the annular space 7 is divided into separate compartments, by means of a corrugated partition, one compartment serving to conduct the coal and the other to conduct the combustion gases. In fig. 3 coal is indicated by intertwined lines, gas by small lines, and combustion air by dots.

   To evacuate the humidity one can use tubes as shown at 11 in part II, or the external masonry 12, in the casing of the tank, can be provided with ducts 13, through which the water. dimit is evacuated together with the flue gases which go out through the annular space 14. This annular space can serve at the same time as an air heater, since for example a corrugated partition 15 is again provided, which is licked on one side by the air and on the other side by the combustion gases. The air supply and the exhaust of the combustion gases are arranged so that the air arrives through conduits 16 which apply directly against the hopper and thus prevent ignition of the fuel.

   The gases are evacuated through a flue 17 which is licked on one side by the combustion air, so that this air is already heated when it enters.

   Fig. 5 shows in its basic characteristics the same construction as the other two steam generators, but differs therefrom in that a gas generator or gasifier is arranged coaxially with the vessel, a gas generator in which the coal is most important. first degassed, the gases thus produced being used for heating the steam generator. As in the example of FIG. 2 the coal arrives from a vertical duct 7 to the generator 18, and the combustion gases and the combustion air take the same

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 path than in the case of fig. 2. 19 denotes a pipe @ by means of which secondary air is led to the flame by nozzles 20, while the generator 18 receives the main air from below.

   As the grids, any types of known mechanical grids can be employed. It is thus possible to regulate the generation of steam within wide limits. The operation of the gate is particularly advantageous when it is actuated by cams or the like, which are guided on a circular path. In this way, not only movement of the coal is generated along the peripheral line of the tube, but also a lateral fall so that frequent overturning takes place in the movement of the fuel.

   But another simple method of adjusting the steam generator consists in influencing the descent of fresh fuel by varying the removal of the ash. Fig. 2 shows an example of such a provision. At the end of the grid 8, there is disposed a rotating cone 21 which carries an ash gutter 22. The cone cooperates at the same time with a fixed part 23 as a slag breaker.

  If the speed of rotation of the cone is reduced, that is to say if a fixed ring plate removes a smaller quantity of ash from the gutter 22, these ashes accumulate at the end of the grate and prevent the descent of the fuel. , and consequently the generation of steam is reduced. Fast track. Rant the rotation of the cone 21, on the contrary, it is possible to increase the production of steam by increasing the evacuation of the slag. It is obvious that the same mode of adjustment can be applied for the steam generators according to fig. 1 and g.

   The use of a funnel-shaped grate, mainly for lignites, offers the advantage that as the combustion progresses the grate surface becomes

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

 smaller, so that the risk of a false air supply is avoided to a very great extent.

   Figs. 6 and 7 show the construction of an automatic loader hearth for a boiler of this type.

   According to the invention, a series of loader pistons are arranged around the conical circular grate and these pistons press fuel onto the grate. The various pistons are actuated by a common annular curved track, which track receives a rotational movement from a control device. A conical mechanical hearth 102 is centrally located in the furnace 101 with retorts 103 through which the fuel is pressed onto the grate. Fuel comes out of a loading hopper and falls in front of the pistons
165 These pistons are guided on one side in the cylinders
106 and on the other side, by their extended piston rod, in bearings 107. A curved track 108 is disposed centrally in the grid and receives a rotational movement of the motor 109 by means of a worm gear endless 110.

   The curved track 108 rotates on rollers 111 and is laterally guided by pistons 112. Position I shows the loader piston in its extreme position, and position II shows it in its internal position.

   A difficulty of the steam generator of the invention lies in the equal loading of the circular hoppers 6. This difficulty is overcome by the following arrangement:
The coal is first led to a preliminary hopper, from where it is led to a circular track. A mechanical shovel or scraper movable relative to this track removes from the track a determined quantity of coal and pours it into the circular hopper. This arrangement makes it possible to uniformly load the circular hopper. If necessary, it is possible, by changing the relative speed between the shovel and the circular track, to adjust the loading of the hopper depending on the load of the boiler.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 7>

   In a variant of the steam generator according to the present invention, there is arranged coaxially with the grid a nozzle hearth, in particular a coal dust hearth.

   The combination of the nozzle and grate fireplace is known. But this combination works particularly favorably in combination with an axis-symmetrical steam generator, because the radiant heat from the nozzle furnace can be distributed very evenly over the radiating space, so that an increase in the flexibility of the conduct of the fire is obtained.

   Figs. 8 and 9 schematically represent examples of execution of the combined fireplace of the invention. The steam generator 201, which is shown only by the outline of its vessel, is equipped with a circular charcoal grate 202 which serves to cover the fundamental charge. The additional nozzle stove 204 is disposed, in the two examples, centrally at this grid; in the example of FIG. 8 it is arranged from bottom to top and in the example of FIG. 9 from top to bottom.

   The overall construction of the generator enables the installation costs to be considerably reduced, due to the fact that this generator is mounted in the open air, as a tank or free well, without a boiler building. Heat losses are reduced to a minimum because the radiant heat is returned to the combustion chamber by the combustion air and the exhaust gases are used extensively.
