<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Figure 2 est la vue on plan correspondante.

"improvements in shaping and cutting machines for butter into lumps, bricks and the like"
The present invention relates to the shaping of 'butter or the like into lumps, bricks or rolls and the like, by the method set forth in the specification of the foregoing British Patent No. 235,462 by the same inventor which consists in removing the material through a hole of diameter smaller than that of a final root ball, compressing the expelled thread of material, so as to flatten it to give it the desired shape, then to separate from the thread of material expelled the roll, brick or the like thus formed.
The apparatus used for the purpose of shaping these rolls by application of the aforesaid method, comprises an orifice or discharge spout constituting one end of the container which contains
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the butter, the latter being; forced to exit by crossing this orifice, under the pressure of a plunger.
However, in practice, it has been observed that the maid continued to exit through the orifice or disgorger when the machine was stopped. This is why the present invention pursues, as an objective, the means of preventing this drawback by resorting to the well-known expedient of a suitable valve-valve, preferably disposed in the neck of the container, and as close as possible to its orifice itself. According to the present invention, this valve is automatically actuated; for this purpose, it can be connected, for example, to the switch intended for starting the engine which activates the evacuating plunger.
Alternatively, the valve could be moved electrically, by means of the type of a solenoid or similar accessory in connection with an automatic device causing the stopping of the machine when the whole quantity of material has been taken out of the container body. .
According to one of the embodiments of the invention, the valve consists of a valve or register plate. Mounted to slide in a slot made in the neck of the container intended for the material, 'so as to act in a perpendicular plane at the discharge port; in order to better understand an embodiment of this type, it will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a vertical section through the neck and the discharge orifice or spout of the container, while:
Figure 2 is the corresponding plan view.
In these drawings, a designates the neck of a container and b designates the orifice or discharge spout thereof. While it is the valve as a valve or register, transversely arranged and sliding in the grooves d. This damper valve can be moved in any suitable way, for example, as already mentioned, by means of a pivot lever e.
By causing this valve to close, the

material inside the vessel and under pressure, thus making it ready for the next operation; at the same time, prevents the climbing of the material at the moment or. the machine does not work.
CLAIMS.
1. In a machine for shaping lumps, rolls, etc. butter and the like, where the material is expelled through an orifice or spout, ad hoc means comprising a plunger, a valve having been provided and adapted so as to prevent the material from continuing its flow. advancement through said orifice or spout when the machine is stopped; the device being characterized in that this valve is actuated automatically.
