<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

“Device for high production warping of artificial silk.” @ Warping of artificial silk is difficult due to its elasticity. Until now, the artificial silk has hardly been warped except on a sectional warping machine used for natural silk;?, The coils rotating ;, a dead weight must be drawn at the start of the march; then, the full spools at the beginning become lighter as the wire unwinds. The tension is therefore different, the elongation is no longer the same, resulting in dissimilar, brighter colors on tighter threads.
The warping currently employed for cotton comprises stationary tapered spools with a horizontal axis.
It cannot hold for artificial silk because of the wrinkle of it.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The object of the present invention is to allow warping of the artificial silk giving identical and regular tension to all the threads and a significant increase in production.
The device which is the subject of the present patent consists essentially of non-rotating frustoconical coils, with a vertical axis, as shown in FIG. I of the drawing appended to the present application.
These coils A are mounted to toggle B on the supportc. The wire passes through the tensioner D of a known model. This tensioner is placed as close as possible above the reel so that the length of the wire between the reel and the tensioner is very short; so is the weight, and the wire does not tend to wrinkle.
The tension being always regular, the thread is never slackened, serious inconvenience which presents itself on the? systems emslové to date.
The knee lever B allows the inclination of the spool axis to place it without being hampered by the tensioner D.
A variant would consist in eclipsing the tensioner D for the pitch rage of the coil.
The coils are arranged on a suitable creel, for example as shown in Figure 2 and the yarns? go to the warping machine E proper which is the ordinary warping machine simplified in that the drive roller is omitted and the yarns are driven directly by the beam F, itself controlled by a cone or a differential movement as is practiced on the gluing machines, thus allow a constant speed according to its diameter.
By removing the intermediate roller, the friction which damages the silk thread is eliminated.
Figures 3 and 4 show an elevational view of the tensioner and a partial section of the spool mounted on a fixed support and pressing on the elastic device constituted
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
p2r a dome with spring in order to make the support .of each coil elastic in order to obtain a regular tension of the wire and prevent this one from hanging when it is not tensioned.
The coil I instead of resting directly on a rigid support is placed on a dome 4 mounted on a spiral spring 3 whose lower end is fixed on the axis 2.
This gives an elastic spool holder intended to automatically adjust the tension of the silk thread and prevent possible breakage. the supports of each coil are fixed on the creel in the known manner.
In order to allow easy replacement of the coils I, the tensioner is formed by a fixing collar 5 provided with ears on which is pivoted by means of the axis 6 a lever 7 carrying the tensioner proper 8 and the guide hole. yarn dage 9. Figure I shows in dotted lines the tensioner raised from its normal position and allowing easy removal of the spool 1 when empty and its replacement by a full spool.
The invention described being given only by way of example, it is understood that the organs or devices described which can fulfill the subject matter fall within its field.
Figures 5, 6 and 7 show improvements to the warping machine itself for the purpose of decreasing the speed of the beam as its diameter increases as a result of the winding of the yarns, Figure 5 showing a schematic view of the beam drive device, Figure 6, a side view of the warping machine and Figure 7, a partial view of the beam control *
According to these figures, a shaft A-A mounted on the warp is controlled by two pulleys H, one fixed and the other idle. This shaft also carries a friction clutch by discs F as well as a conical drum B communicating its movement to another conical drum C by means of a belt D moving in the longitudinal direction.
The displacement of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
belt D is automatically adjusted according to the different winding phases of the wire on the beam N. This results in the decrease in the rotation speed of the beam as its diameter increases as a result of the winding of the wires .
On the shaft R-R carrying the conical drum C is wedged the stepped pulley G with three speeds, in turn controlling an identical pulley L keyed on the shaft e. Cetarbre is hollow and in the interior part slides a solid shaft K provided at its end with a plate K intended to drive the beam by means of a journal in order to obtain a certain drive elasticity.
It is understood that the belt D can be driven along the tapered drums! and 0 by means of a suitable member, the speed of movement of the belt corresponding to the thickness of winding of the threads on the beam.
