Semi-vertical steam generator, with cylindrical bodies and water tubes, methodically heated.
The main patent n.325 484 of April 25, 1925 relates to a semi-vertical multitubular boiler, with cylindrical bodies arranged transversely, including two at the top and a third, divided by a watertight partition into two compartments, at the bottom, in the axis vertical of the posterior body, the characteristic of which resides in that the water tubes are made visitable and ailatable because one of their ends is straight and the other is slightly curved.
The object of the present improvement patent is to eliminate the partition in the lower cylindrical body and replace it with a second cylindrical body, also located at the bottom and which would receive the feed water.
By removing this partition and replacing it with the addition of a second cylindrical body in the.

bottom of the boiler, temperature inequalities due to the fact that the inlet water on one side of the partition is colder than the other which has already circulated in the boiler are first of all avoided. By the same token, the inequalities of expansion of the body itself are eliminated.
Then, given the low temperature of the gases to which the tubes in the supply bundle are exposed, these tubes can be straight over the entire length.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the generator according to the present patent ae improvement.
The boiler is made up of two upper reservoirs 1 and and two lower reservoirs 3 and 4, the first of which is arranged in the vertical axis of reservoir 2 and the other next to reservoir 3, of three bundles. tubular hulls 5, 6 and 7, of a tubular bundle, vapor conductor 8 connecting the two upper reservoirs 1 and 2 to each other and of the tubular bundle 9 leading the vapor from reservoir 1 to reservoir 2. The reservoir 3 forms the boiler and the tank 4 forms the water supply tank.
The tubes ae each of the bundles 5, 6 and 7 have a curved end and a straight end while the tube bundle 5 is quite straight. This conformation of the tubes allows them to be easily visited inside by inserting an electric lamp in one end and looking in the other. In addition, all the tubes are expandable by the same fact. The steam tank 2 is surmounted by a steam inlet 10 which can communicate with a superheater 11. The gases are guided from the combustion chamber 12 by suitably shaped chocks 14, 15, 16, 17 and arranged to,

suitable places up to exit 13, as indicated by the arrows.
The water supply takes place at 4 as indicated by arrow 18.
By removing the bulkhead in tank 5 according to the main patent and adding supply tank 4, the temperature inequalities found in tank 3 are eliminated. These temperature inequalities were due to the introduction of one side of the partition with colder water than that of the other side which had already circulated in the boiler. The fresh water now being introduced into a special tank, the tank 4, that contained in the tank 3 has a uniform temperature. The inequalities of expansion of this body 3 are therefore eliminated as a result.
As on the other hand the temperature of the gases to which the tubes of the bundle 4 are exposed is only low, these tubes can be straight over the entire length.
This therefore results in a simplification of the construction of the boiler.
That said, we declare to consider as being of our invention and to claim as being the subject of this patent of improvement to the main patent no 325,484:
1) A semi-vertical multitubular steam generator, with cylindrical bodies arranged transversely, including two at the top, one at the bottom in the vertical axis of the upper posterior body and a second cylindrical body at the bottom, at side of the first, this second body serving as a supply reservoir for the purpose of preventing the presence in the other lower body of water of different temperatures and at the same time the inequalities of expansion of this body.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
2) A steam generator according to 1, characterized in that the lower cylindrical body serving as a water supply tank is connected to the upper posterior body by completely straight tubes.
