Description

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 6>

    "Device applicable to high pressure steam generators and indiret heating"
The invention relates to a device applicable to high pressure steam generators with indirect heating and can be used both in fixed installations and in mobile installations, such as for example locomotives.

   We know the means which consists in placing, in high pressure steam generators with indirect heating, the elements providing the heat (coils) of a

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 circulation system, or of several independent circulation systems, in an indirectly heated vessel so that their principal direction is parallel to the longitudinal direction of the vessel and that their connections, with the parts of the heating elements which ab- sorb the heat, exit the container or tanks through one of the two front walls, or these two walls.

   This arrangement can present drawbacks for operation and service in certain cases and when the high pressure boilers have certain dimensions; it is thus, for example, that it is possible that with the often great length of the indirectly heated tanks (which can be 10 meters in length, and even more), the slope, inside a coil of heater, extending the entire length of the tank, may not be large enough to ensure proper condensate drainage. In addition, when the connections of the heat emitting heating coils pass through one of the front walls of the tank , the dimensions, already large in themselves, in the longitudinal direction of the containers, are also increased in diameter,

   this frequently gives rise to location difficulties, increases the cost of the installation and makes it difficult to dismantle large components. In addition, in the arrangement of several independent heat vehicle circulation systems, it has already been proposed to arrange the connections between the heat distributing parts located in the water chamber of the indirectly heated receptacle, and the parts. absorbing heat transversely to the longitudinal axis through the longitudinal wall of the container.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   According to the present invention, on the contrary, it is a question of placing a greater number of groups of independent heating coils in the water chamber of the receptacle and of leading their connections to the outside. The drawbacks inherent in known constructions are therefore eliminated, in accordance with the. present invention, by the fact that the heat-emitting parts of any circulation system are connected to the heat-absorbing parts, and this in a removable manner, through the side parts of the longitudinal wall of the container and form each a tubular system consisting of a number of bundles of tubes the principal direction of which is transverse to the longitudinal axis of the container.

   This arrangement makes it possible to easily assemble and disassemble the various tubular systems; in addition, a maximum indirect heating surface can be obtained in an indirectly heated vessel. In addition, the natural slope is increased within each circulation system, so that the circulation of the heat vehicle is ensured to a large extent. In addition, the various heating elements have relatively small dimensions and light weight. Likewise, the sediments which are deposited on the exterior of the coils can be easily discharged through the openings made laterally in the wall of the container.

   In devices intended for mobile installations, in particular locomotives, the heating coils are connected to the heat absorbing parts of the circulation systems preferably alternately from one side of the vessel to the other. Further, the device is preferably set up such that the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 heat-emitting parts are arranged at a sufficient height from the bottom of the indirectly heated container and at. a distance such from its front walls that there exists, between the heat-emitting parts and the container, a sufficient distance to ensure good water circulation.

   An embodiment of the invention is shown by way of example in the accompanying drawing in which:
Fig. 1 is a cross section and FIG. 2 a longitudinal section.

   1 designates a container in which there is water. by means of which high pressure steam is to be produced by indirect heating. For this, use is made of groups of heating coils, four of which are shown in figure 2 and are designated by 2, 3, 4 and 5.

   These groups of heating coils are fully or largely in the water chamber of vessel 1 and each consist of five layers side by side and which in turn contain four elbows, and therefore eight lengths of tubing. The tubes of the groups of heating coils are all arranged transversely to the longitudinal direction of the vessel 1. The five layers of each heating element are connected parallel to each other to an inlet or distribution chamber 6, 7, 8 or 9 as well as a collecting or evacuating chamber 10, 11 12 and 13. Each distributing or collecting chamber has a connector 14, 15, 16, 17 or 18, 19, 20, 21.

  These connectors are distributed over the longitudinal wall of the container 1, pass through it and are connected outside the container with the ends 22, 23 or 24,25 of the heat-absorbing parts of the circulation systems. 26, 27

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 Resign supports which are held together by bolts 28, 29 and provide firm support to each group of coils. The coils can be introduced into and withdrawn from the container through an opening 30.

   In the exemplary embodiment, the connections of the heating coils terminate on both sides through the longitudinal wall of the container 1 in such a way that one of the heating coils with its connections terminate on one side, while the heating coil which comes immediately after terminates with its fittings, on the other side * This construction is especially advantageous when only one only receptacle for the indirect production of steam and in the case where the fittings and connections of the heating coils can be arranged with the heat absorbing parts of the circulation systems on both sides of this receptacle, which is particularly the case in locomotives.

   On the contrary, for fixed installations, in the case of large steam generators, two receptacles will be used from which the connections of the heating coils only end on one side through the longitudinal wall.

   It can be seen from the drawing that there is, above and below the heating coils, sufficient free space to circulate around the container. In addition, good circulation of the water contained in the container is ensured because it is provided, moreover, on the front walls of the container, thanks to a sufficient spacing of the heating coils, a water chamber which is not occupied by streamers. The water boils over the elements, falls from top to bottom in the free parts of coils and

 <Desc / Clms Page number 6>

 te again by the free space above the elements, as indicated by arrows I and II Fig.2.

   It would be possible to mount the heat-emitting heating coil arranged in the container so that it is located as close as possible to the bottom of the container so as to obtain in the latter a level as low as possible and consequently a large space of vapor. For the construction adopted, we were in fact based on this observation that it was important (To have a good circulation of water to obtain an indirect release of heat to the water of the coil and it was important to obtain this water circulation by means of a sufficient distance between the heating coils and the bottom, as well as between these coils and the front walls of the container.
