 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Nozzle for the emulsion and refrigeration of liquids by gases.

The present invention relates to a nozzle for emulsifying and refrigerating liquids by gas, such as those. condensers, for example, are used to cool the water.

According to the invention, fins inclined with respect to the axis of the nozzle are arranged inside the converging nozzle.

These fins are, according to the invention, limited by ruled surfaces, the generatrices of which are perpendicular to the axis of the nozzle and rest on two guidelines, which are for each of the fins the axis of the nozzle and a cylindrical curve the development of which is formed by part of a parabolic curve whose axis would be perpendicular to that of the core and whose apex would be so ** killed upstream of the device. These fins have their downstream part oriented parallel to the axis of the nozzle and take a less and less pronounced curvature downstream.

   The

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

Upstream ridges are rounded and the downstream ridges project parallel to the axis of the nozzle approximately in the middle of the upstream ridges of the considered fin and of the following fin.

The invention also provides, in order to reduce the eddies as much as possible, that in the case where the fins are supported by a central core, the latter ends downstream in a curved surface.

In addition, the interior surface of the convergent nozzle may have the shape of the surface of a paraboloid of revolution.

The invention also provides for the arrangement of a divergent cone at the outlet of the converging nozzle. Said cone can optionally be displaced axially.

Other details and features of the invention will become apparent from the description of the drawings appended to the memorandum which show some embodiments of the invention.

Figure 1 shows schematically in perspective, after axial section, a nozzle according to the invention.

Figure 2 is a perspective view on a larger scale of the fin device shown in Figure 1.

Figure 3 is a plan view of this device.
Figure 4.shows in perspective after axial section a second embodiment of the invention.

Referring more specifically to Figures 1 to 3, it can be seen that the nozzle according to the invention comprises a converging nozzle 1, the interior surface of which is that of a paraboloid of revolution. Inside this nozzle is placed a device comprising a central core 2 provided with variably blades Sa / inclined with respect to the axis of the core.

These fins are limited by ruled surfaces whose generati-

these are perpendicular to the axis of the nozzle and are based on two guidelines which are for each of the fins the axis of the nozzle and a cylindrical curve whose development on a plane is formed by part of a curve d parabolic shape with axis perpendicular to the axis of the nozzle and apex located upstream of the nozzle. These fins have an upstream orientation such that the plane tangent to the upstream ridge passes substantially through the axis of the nozzle. In addition, they have a helical curvature which is less and less pronounced as one advances downstream.

As a result, the liquid jet hits the fins more or less tangentially and is then gradually deflected.

The edge 2b of a determined fin along which it leaves the device projects parallel to the axis approximately in the middle of the distance which separates the upstream edges 2d and 2f of the fin considered and of the fin neighbor (fig. 3).

The exact projection of edge 2b is likely to vary somewhat depending on the angle at which the jet is to be released. The fins are bevelled 2h at their downstream end while their upstream end is rounded. '
The device thus formed causes the liquid jet to exit from the nozzle not with an intense gyratory movement which sprays the jet, but by causing it to flare out in the form of an elongated cone placed on its top. The liquid jet coming out of the converging nozzle 1 causes an air intake through the orifices 3 and is straightened in the form of a cylinder by the downstream part of the cap 4.

The downstream end of the central core 2- ends in a curved surface 2g the purpose of which is to avoid as much as possible the formation of eddies at the exit of the fins 2.

By the presence of the rounded end 2g and by the shape given to the fins 2a as well as their upstream ends and

downstream, the energy losses by resolution, friction, are extremely reduced and the projection height reached is

very high, oc which ascures a prolonged contact of air and water, esiulsifies and causes an au, -ien.ï; i; m of the refrigeration thereof.

The invention also provides that the setting of the nozzle
 EMI4.2
convergent 1, ('Lig.4) can be capped with an inverted cone 5 intended to open the front liquid jet. that it sucks in the air.

The invention also provides that this cone can be

moved axially so as to vary the section of passage of the liquid jet. This displacement can be obtained for example by screwing the cone ± on the rod 5a fixed dllli1G Appropriate way.
