1 -- un mors fixe 1,,se terminant par un manche ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

WRENCH FOR TUBES, BARS, NUTS, ETC ....
The object of the present invention is a tightening wrench for tubes, bars, nuts, etc., of remarkable mechanical design.
The essential details of one embodiment will be given, by way of example, in the drawings appended to this specification.
As shown there, the new key therefore consists of:
1 - a fixed jaw 1,, ending in a handle;
2 - a movable jaw c, articulated around the axis d; this axis d is mounted on the caliper e, itself movable around the axis f, belonging to the fixed jaw.
30 - an adjustment bracket ±, movable around the axis f, makes it possible to fix the movable jaw .0.9 in the desired position thanks to the spacer h, and to the groove or rack i; 40 - A spring k, coming to rest at j, on the mobile jaw and at 1, on the fixed jaw, @
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The operation of the key thus described is very simple, and is explained as follows; a / rotate the caliper around its axis, in order to give the opening of the key an amplitude a little less than the diameter to be tightened, o.
By the rack stop, this opening is kept fixed; b / exert pressure on the base of the movable jaw in order to obtain, by pivoting around the eccentric axis f, the additional opening of the key necessary for gripping the object to be tightened; c / then push it fully into the opening of the two jaws or jaws. A traction exerted on the handle in the appropriate direction will ensure a tightening all the stronger the more forceful the traction is; actuating the handle in the opposite direction, the arrangement of the jaws will allow the key to be released. a new pull in the initial direction will ensure the continuation of the tightening work; the new key thus works like a ratchet.
The toothing of the jaws is for this purpose established as follows: on the movable jaw in the direction of the tightening rotation, for training purposes, it is drawn in profile following an enveloping curve with a large radius ; on the fixed jaw, in the opposite direction to this rotation for the purpose of escape; it is also drawn along a curve of large radius, the center of which is offset with respect to the line f, h of the adjustment bracket.
In the appended drawing (fig I), the teeth are shown in m and n, The key, in the tightening position is shown in dotted lines, and the corresponding parts are assigned a (').
The role of the spring is to allow, by simple pressure, the entry of the part to be clamped, then the grip of this part, by releasing this pressure, as well as the maintenance

in the chosen position, the movable jaw.
EMI3.1
It also plays the cliquete.ge9 er'i compression for the opening of the jaws ;, and the trigger, ensuring the recovery of the part in the clamping movement.
It is understood that this key can be made, in all sizes and shapes, as well as with endless variations in practical details.
In particular the adjustment movement can be obtained as follows in fig. 1 ', comprising the deletion of the caliper e.
On the fixed jaw a, is made a slot p, of suitable length, and traced along an arc with the axis f as its center. The movable jaw c, comes to rest on the fixed jaw in this slot, by an axis q mounted on the guide yoke r.
The new movement of the key is self-explanatory and can be understood immediately from the drawings.
The movable jaw being held in position by the bracket g, to further open the key, press @ with your finger on the bos sage of the movable jaw ,. this one takes, in the plane of the key, a movement of rotation around the axis f, by progression of the axis q, along the light p. As soon as the pressure of the finger is, the spring returns this axis q at the bottom of the light, that is to say, closes the key on the object to be tightened.
All other movements remain those which have been described above.
