Suivant le mode d'exécution représenté à la figure 1, l'extrémité de la fune de remorque 7 est attachée directe- ment au point de jonotion des deux braguets rigides, ou des pattes-d'oie, des panneaux; quant à la portion de câble, située entre le filet et les panneaux;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

Gear V.D, improved for bottom fishing described in. Principal Patent No. 348125 of. January 18, 1928 a bottom fishing gear., @ Type V.D., in which the divergent panels which open the net in width are established and arranged so as not to drag on the bottom.
The present invention relates to improvements to this device, in particular facilitating the maneuver during launching or when hauling on board the device, the operating adjustment of the two panels at the same distance from the ground and to obtain the maximum useful spacing of the device, etc ...
These improvements will result from the description which follows.
In the accompanying drawing, given only by way of example:
Figure 1 is the front and side view of a panel connected directly to the arm and to the corresponding haulm. Figures 2 and 3 are the front and side views of an attachment method of a panel in which the arm and the
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
ùne are joined by a pantoire.
FIG. 4 is the front view of an attachment mode of the panel in which the arm is the very extension of the warp.
Figure 5 is a plan view of a roller serving as a ballast.
FIG. 6 represents a method of attaching the ballast to the arm.
FIG. 7 shows in elevation a panel, connected to the warp by a pantoir, chains forming ballast being suspended from the panel and from the warp at the point of attachment of the pantoir.
Figure 8 is a view similar to Figure 6, in which the pantoir is replaced by flaps.
Figures 9 and 10 show the front and side of asymmetrical flaps.
Figure 11 is a cross section, perpendicular to the panel, of an improved float.
Figures 12 and 13 are elevational views of two machines according to the invention in which the windlasses have been omitted.
FIG. 14 is the elevational view of another machine comprising both windlasses at the ends of the wings and in the vicinity of the panels.
According to the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the end of the trailer warp 7 is attached directly to the junction point of the two rigid flaps, or crow's feet, of the panels; as for the portion of cable, located between the net and the panels;
or arm, it is no longer attached to this same junction point of the flaps as in the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 1 of the main patent, but to the outer face of the panels by means of a tab. goose whose attachment points
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
15 and 16 are fixed at the top and bottom of the panels, substantially on the same vertical line as the rear rigid fly 22, that is to say towards the middle of the panel in the direction of the length, or at least close to this point.
& râoe at your disposal, when launching the arms and the tops, pulled by the weight of the net and by its resistance in the water as well as by the weight of the arms and that of the ballast 11, have tendency to stand in a straight line; the panels are, from the start, forced to take their angle of attack and move away immediately.
The upper branch is preferably longer than the lower branch so as not to interfere with the hyorizontality of the panel. For the same purpose, that is to say so that the panels operate vertically and thus be able to have their maximum spacing. it is possible, for example, to postpone the flaps higher than usual or to give the lower branches 36 of the rigid or flexible flaps a greater length than the upper branches 37 (Figures 9 and 10).
The point of traction of the haulm on the panel, in the length direction, should also be adjusted so as to ensure the most advantageous angle of attack, from the point of view of spacing and resistance.
To facilitate the winding maneuver on the winch, the panel will preferably be pierced in its center with an opening 24 (Figures 2 and 3) intended to allow a connecting slider 25 to pass between the warp 7 and the arm. 26. The arm 26 can slide in a ring 27 fixed to the junction of the two branches of the hedgehog 28 at the rear of the panels; the end of the arm is provided at its junction with the intermediate pantoir, 25, with a pan 29, intended to abut against Panel 27 of the crow's feet. Thanks to this device, it is easy to wind up on the winch
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the arm following the haulm when the machine is raised on board.
According to the variant of Figure 4, a single cable directly connects each wing of the net to the boat. This cable which includes a ring 10 at the place where the panel is to be attached, passes through an opening 24, performed in the direction of the length of the panel, substantially on the same line as the attachment line of the rear rigid fly 22, that is to say towards the middle of the panel. This ring. 10 can be connected to the top of the flaps by a shackle for example. This device also facilitates the maneuver of launching and re-boarding.
In the main patent it was provided an is 11 intended to apply the arms on the bottom. According to another improvement of the present invention, this ballast could be formed (FIG. 5) by rollers 30 in. cast iron or any other material, weight apprpprié, each mounted on a armatu.re 31 of triangular shape or. another, the top of which will be attached to the arm, and the base of which will serve as a hub for the corresponding roller. The roundels will roll on the bottom instead. to be there . trailed thus offering less resistance to forward movement.
As well as all the other ballast members described above or below, they can be provided with all devices such as, for example, metal beaters 11 of the. kind of those used for chimney sweeping, these hedgehogs being mounted on swivels and fitted, if necessary at their rear part, with a propeller 11b facilitating their rotation (figure 1), facilitating the lifting of the intended mud the fish to the fillet. Of course, all other heavy objects can also be used as ballast, for example a chain attached by one of its ends or a bundle of chains, etc.
All these weights can of course be permanently attached.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
as shown in Figures 1 and 2 of the main patent, but preferably they can be attached to a ring 32 (Figure
6) sliding down the arm. This sliding ring is fixed during fishing, by a shackle 32a, to its attachment ring 33 on the haulm and is detached from it, when loading on board, which makes it possible to continue winding the arm on the winch. , the arm sliding in the abneau 32 until the wings of the net reach the jibs used to suspend the net on the boat. The ballast then comes up against the windlasses. Releasing is done in the reverse way.
As pointed out in the main patent, it will be advantageous, while maintaining sufficient buoyancy for the panel, to ensure its perfect verticality by ballasting its lower part and by increasing its upward force at the upper part, for example by means of 'a float.
Finally, it is possible, in certain cases, to eliminate the ballast 11, the position of the panels with respect to the bottom being ensured by the weight of the arms which, in this case, must be plcza long, and, if necessary, heavy pins.
When the panel is attached to the haulm by means of a pantoir, connecting the flaps to the haulm, as shown in Figure 2 of the main patent it sometimes happens that the panel oscillates back and forth. rear around the attachment point of the pantoir, failing to be maintained at the rear as in the example shown in Figure 1 of the present invention. As a result, if the oscillations of the two panels are different, they operate at different distances from the bottom which impairs the proper functioning of the apparatus and hinders control.
The stability of the panels 8 and their operation will be ensured, at a distance as uniform as possible from the bottom by ballasting them at their lower rear part by a hanging chain 34 (figure 7), the attachment point and weight of which .will be calculated solvent the normal height
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
male to which the panel will operate. This hanging chain will function like the guide rails used in aerial navigation. Any other weight suspended and dragging on the ground, such as steel cable, weight attached to a rope, etc., could be used for this purpose.
In this same device, so that the junction point 10 of the haulm, the arm and the pantoir 9 is maintained at a more or less constant height above the bottom, for example at the same height as the panel, (which has the advantage of ensuring constant work of the panels), at this point 10 a ballast 35, similar to the hanging chain 34, can also be suspended from the rear and lower part of the panel 8.
This ballast allows the two panels to operate at the same distance from the bottom. It clamps the panels and ensures their perfect stability, the center of gravity of the whole being very low, In combination with the floats 38 which can be fitted to the panels at their upper part, it ensures the perfect verticality of the latter, condition to obtain the maximum spacing. Finally, the trailing chain as well as the pannsau itself kept fairly close to the ground will intervene in dreary time that the arm 26 when pulling the fish.
This method of ballasting could also be advantageously adopted for all the other embodiments of the main patent.
In certain embodiments of the invention, a single suspended and trailing ballast will suffice, the attachment point of which will vary according to the embodiment of the invention, for example in the embodiment of FIG. 7 The weight member 35 can be omitted and the weight member 34 will be attached to the rear part of the panel; in the embodiment of figure 8, it will be attached further forward @
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
towards the center at the bottom of the hinge axis of the. rear fly. In c'autres embodiments, two or. a greater number of suspended and trailing ballast members arranged along the panel.
Their number of positions will vary according to the point of attachment of the tops and arms which influence the balance of the panels and consequently lead to a variation in their balancing. It will be advantageous to provide for the lower part of the panels, a series holes which will allow adjustment according to the remarks made in. while fishing, the perfect balance of the panels by varying from front to back the oa the attachment points of the weighting members.
Of course, panels of all appropriate shapes and sizes can be used.
In all the embodiments of the invention, in which the leaf and the arm end on the same side of the panel, it will be advantageous to ensure the perfect verticality of the panels and also to give them sufficient buoyancy to provide them with their part. upper of powerful floats as shown above.
In great depths, due to the strong pressure, we cannot make these metal floats, but we can place (figure 11) glass balls 38 in one or more props 39, in galvanized sheet metal. for example, these tubes being held by the sapphire edge of the panel 8 and protected against impact by pieces of wood, 40, bevelled, these pieces 40 also have the effect of preventing that under the effect. of the reaction of the water., these tubes cannot function as a kite, which could cause an imbalance of the panel.
Of course, in all of these devices, it is possible to use rigid or flexible flies, or even mixed, that is to say rigid at the front, to promote separation from the launch. , and flexible at the back of
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
so as to make the pannsau more manageable.
Furthermore it is useful to provide swivels poutss the cable and panel attachments, for example, in Figure 1, at the point of attachment of the panels to the haulm or. in the example of Figure 6, at the attachment point of the pantoir 9 on the panels. Likewise on the ring 10, the pantoire 9, the haulm 7 and the arm will be attached, each via a swivel. These swivels will allow the panels and the various components to go back to their regular positions, whatever the effects of cable twisting and pocket incidents.
In the embodiments of Figures 6, 7 and 8 of. main patent, that is to say with nets with very wide wings (of the order of 7 to 8 meters in width for example) of a constant width and substantially equal to the opening height of the. body of. net itself, we can remove the windlasses (Figures 12 and 13) and have suspended and trailing ballasting members 34: ,, as described above.
However, it is possible to keep the windlass at the ends of the wings; they can be placed very close to the panels or still put some at the same time at the ends of the wings of the net and very close to the panel as is shown for example in FIG. 14 in which the two arms 7 and 7 'are attached to the windlass 6 and are kept apart by the windlass 20. The arm 7' then drags on the ground.
The $ ilet 41 will preferably be provided with side wings. 42, each connected to the upper and lower corners of the wings by inclined cables 43, so as to prevent the net from ballooning laterally and to allow it to balloon better upwards.
It is also possible, in certain cases, to advantageously place small panels at the ends of the wings of the net, these panels replacing the ordinary gnindineaux.
