 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

  "RUBBER SANDAL AND PROCESS FOR ITS MANUFACTURE"
The present invention relates to a rubber sandal, as well as to the method of its manufacture.

   Its purpose is to allow a sandal to be produced by cold molding in a rapid and economical manner, and this so as to ensure rigidity to the upper and to the heel.

   The method of manufacturing the sandal of the present invention consists essentially in the dressing of a form, preferably of wood, by a rubber sole and by two rubber bands cut in a suitable manner and intended to ensure rigidity. the heel counter and the upper of the sandal. The lower edges of these pieces embrace the edges of said sole and are lo-

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 between it and a second, slightly wider sole. The upper and the buttress proper are placed on the last, their outer edges are turned outwards and placed on the edges of the aforesaid second sole. All rubber surfaces, in contact, are induced with glue and pressed against each other. Everything is removed from the mold and goes to the appropriate coating bath.

   A welt is placed on the edges of said pieces and sewn to the second sole; the welt seam is covered with a third sole.

   Other characteristics of the present invention will become apparent from the description of the accompanying drawing which shows, by way of non-limiting example, one embodiment of the present invention.

   In this drawing: Figure 1 is a section made in the sole, and in the upper of a finished sandal; FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the upper held by an internal liner according to the present invention; Figure 3 is a perspective view of a sandal made in accordance with the present invention; FIG. 4 represents a part serving as a support for the upper; Figure 5 shows the interior buttress used in the sandal of the present invention.

   Referring to this drawing, 1 shows the upper, provided with an internal buttress 3 (figure 4) formed of a rubber band whose edges 3 go around the edge of the first sole 4 fixed in an appropriate manner for example by small nails on a wooden form, not shown in the drawing. Likewise the lower edges of the

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 internal buttress 10 constituted by a rubber band (figure 5) placed on the form, are turned inwards and also bypassing the sole 4.

   A second sole 5 is placed on the edges 3 and is glued to the sole 4. The upper 1, internally induced by the glue is then placed on the form and its edges 6 are curved outwards so as to be able to be glued to the edges of the second sole 5 as well as the edges of the buttress 7 glued to the internal buttress 10.

   When parts 1 and 7 have been placed and glued to parts 8 and 10, the mold can be removed, and the sandal will be passed through a rubber bath to receive the desired coating, after which a welt 8, placed on the edges 6 of the upper 2 and of the oontrefort 7 will be sewn to the sole 5, this welt increasing the solidity of! ' assembly of the parts and giving a better appearance to the sandal '
When the welt 8 has been sewn, a sole 9 generally made of rubber crepe will be applied by gluing to the sole 5.

   It will be noted from the foregoing that the inner oontrefort 10 and the upper 2 are of paramount importance because they prevent the upper and the buttress themselves from falling flat.

   Thanks to this arrangement, even if the sole 9 would be worn and the sole 5 attacked, the sandal would not be able to come apart, whereas in sandals made according to the old methods, the wear of the sole resulted in almost immediate destruction. of the whole sandal.

   The manufacturing process as described above allows the manufacture of sandals by cold molding using a simple and inexpensive material, and the sandal produced has qualities of strength superior to those of sandals known to date. .

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

   It goes without saying that the present invention is in no way limited to the embodiment described and shown, which may vary in its details without departing from the principle of the present invention.
