<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Fig. 2 une coupe longitudinale.

Electric device for hand drying.
In electric hot-air devices for drying hands, the hot air is discharged through a tube with appendage or a cylindrical extension of a diameter approximately equal to the fan, and it is expelled unimpeded into the open air. In both cases, the hands to be dried are held in the mouth of the apparatus. This arrangement has the disadvantage that the hands are bathed on all sides with outside air and only a quarter of their The drying time is thus unpleasantly prolonged and the consumption of electrical energy is increased. Finally, a rather long time s Hold until the air supplied is hot enough to be suitable for drying purposes.
The two drawbacks are eliminated by the apparatus which is the subject of the invention, and complete bathing of the hands, with air brought from the start to a sufficiently high temperature is achieved.

The apparatus according to the invention comprises a double-walled chamber, the interior of which is pierced everywhere with openings through which the hot air can enter in the form of a uniform current in the drying chamber. In addition, the fan can, according to the invention, suck the air directly into the drying chamber instead of drawing it outside,
whereby rapid heating of the air by the heating coils is ensured. In order to obtain sufficiently hot air at the start of hand drying the washing device is integrally connected with the on-off switch. electric heating or a special switch for electric heating is provided.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the apparatus, object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a cross section and
Fig. 2 a longitudinal section.
The device consists of a double-walled housing a, b comprising the cylindrical drying chamber e, the annular chamber! extending all around the first and the suction channel disposed behind the chamber c.
The opening f of the drying chamber is arranged in the front face of the appliance. At the rear, this chamber is closed by the hollow intermediate bottom; The interior of said bottom communicates with the chamber!. b and the back of chamber c have windows n.
In the bell-shaped flare h of the housing are housed the electric resistances i above which is arranged the fan m controlled by the electric motor k. The fan circulates the air through the heating wires. in the bedroom and the hollow at the back

g, from where it s flows through the windows n into the drying chamber c.
At the bottom are several channels o through which the chamber communicates with the suction channel e. The fan therefore sucks back the air from the chamber c through the openings o and the main suction channel e of so that the air is constantly conducted in a closed circuit and heats up quickly on contact with the heating coils to normal temperature. At a suitable place in the appliance an electric switch for the fan control motor is provided. and the electric heating bodies,
This allows the air generator and the electric heating device to be switched on and off at will. The latter could also include a separate special switch, so that it is possible to switch on the heating starts from the start ,. hand washing and thus produce inside the hood h hot air available from the start of the drying operation.
To take account of a possible forgetting to switch on the electric heater at the start of the washing operation, the switch for the heater could be combined with the washing device, so that in use from the latter, the heating is automatically switched on.
