" Avertisseur sonore ".
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
toutes circonstances.

" Buzzer ".
The object of the present invention is an audible warning device for automobiles, boats and other vehicles, operating by means of air or any other pressurized fluid.
It is essentially characterized by the device for supplying and distributing the pressurized fluid and by the mounting of the vibrating membrane.
These points are very important for obtaining excellent performance from the device, absolute regularity of operation, instantaneous setting in vibration of the vibrating membrane under the influence of the gas current, even if it is subject to variations. relatively large of its pressure.
Figure 1 shows the apparatus in vertical section, @ Figure 2 the same apparatus in partial section in plan.
In the figures, 1 shows a bell supporting the flag 2; 3 is a cylindrical tube integral with this bell. On this tube, is likely to slide the nozzle 5 which is
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
pushed at rest against the membrane 4 by means of a spring 6 enclosed in a sealed chamber 7. This chamber consists of a circular partition 8, a leather crown 9, the nozzle 5 and the cylindrical tube 3. This set of Organs has been known and used for a long time to ensure the release of the membrane, during the introduction of the pressurized fluid.
Against repeated experiments have shown that to ensure regular operation of the device and in particular to obtain its instantaneous start-up, it was essential to allow the pressurized fluid to penetrate rapidly at equal pressure into the chambers existing on both sides of the membrane 4. For this purpose, this membrane is clamped between two circular parts 10 and 11 assembled together by any suitable means.
The part 11 forming the rear face of the alarm is pierced with one or more holes through which the gaseous fluid can be introduced.
The membrane 4 is also pierced in its free part and preferably near its periphery with one or more holes.
In the latter case, they are preferably arranged symmetrically to avoid the formation of abnormal nodal points.
These arrangements provide the pressurized fluid with the possibility of reaching the outlet nozzle with the minimum pressure drop and without having to fear the formation of vortex movements. The membrane, remaining at all times in a medium with balanced tension, is in the most favorable conditions for entering into vibration, which makes it possible to obtain from the apparatus sounds with gas currents of low intensity.
On the other hand, it was recognized essential to ensure to the vibrating membrane a regular and rigorously equal tension so that its proper period remains similar to itself in

all circumstances. This can be achieved by a ring resting on the free part of the membrane, preferably near its periphery, and receiving an elastic thrust from suitably arranged springs.
In the embodiment shown in the present drawing, the free ring 13 receives the pressure of the springs 14 fixed themselves on the base of the wall 8 by means of the screws holding the leather crown 9. But it is obvious that these springs arranged symmetrically could be arranged in any other way without departing from the aims of the invention.
In the drawing, the mode of supplying the alarm is not indicated, but the general arrangement adopted allows it very easily to be juxtaposed with a motor pump of the appropriate type.
