Dans le dessin annexé qui représente à titre d'exemple de réalisation de l'invention une forme d'exécu- tion d'une chaudière de chauffage central, munie du disposi- tif d'après cette invention ;
Fig. 1 est une coupe verticale schématique de la chaudière munie du dispositif;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Fuel saving device for central heating boilers and other applications.
This invention relates to a fuel saving device for central heating boilers and other applications.
EMI1.1
Domestic boilers, and more particularly boilers used for central heating with hot water or with steam, generally comprise elements of suitably shaped, assembled so as to constitute.
EMI1.2
the faces of a parallelipiped, presenting in its internal part
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
a fireplace for the reception of the fuel while on the side of the sides takes the smoke evacuation duct.
This arrangement offers the drawback of allowing the heating of the elements which constitute the boiler only by the direct action of flames or hot gases; that is to say that the transmission of heat from the hot gases to the elements of the boiler takes place only on the part of the elements which is on the path of the gases from the hearth to the chimney.
The device according to the invention which overcomes these drawbacks is characterized by the fact that on the face of the elements located outside the normal path of the gases from the hearth to the chimney, an expansion chamber is provided for these gases by arranging baffles intended to direct the combustion gases towards said expansion chamber with the aim of thus increasing the duration and the contact surface of the gases with the elements of the boiler and ensuring better use of the fuel.
In the accompanying drawing which shows by way of exemplary embodiment of the invention an embodiment of a central heating boiler provided with the device according to this invention;
Fig. 1 is a schematic vertical section of the boiler fitted with the device;
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the boiler with the cover removed.
The boiler comprises vertical elements 1 of suitable shape, suitably assembled together at their upper part by a crown or spider 2. The hearth 3 disposed between the elements 1, comprises a door of
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
load 4 and a smoke outlet 5.
With the aim of forcing the hot gases to come into contact, not only with the lower face but also with the upper face of the crown or spider 2, an expansion chamber is provided above this crown 2
6 for hot gases by placing between the usual cover 7 of the boiler and the normal support 8 thereof a frame 9 of suitable height which is applied with sealing both on the support 8 and on the underside of the cover 7.
The direct passage from the fireplace 3 to the smoke outlet pipe 5 is closed off by a mask 10 placed above the usual baffle 11 and leaving between it and the wall of the boiler a flue 12 communicating with the pipe 5. A plate 13 is applied on the mask 10, for example supported by ears 14 integral with the crown 2 and kept at a suitable distance from the underside of this crown by stops 15 of suitable size.
Thanks to the arrangement described, the gases which escape from the hearth 3 follow the path indicated by the arrows and come to relax in the chamber 6, relinquishing the greater part of their heat to the crown or spider 2, so that the gases arriving at the flue outlet 5 are at a suitably low temperature.
The masks 10-13 may be made of any suitable material, such as sheet metal, cast iron or other, and be connected together by an assembly with tenons and mortises with keys or the like, the fixing of the plate 13 under the underside of the the crown, being able to be carried out in any suitable manner, the plate '13 being able to be established

in two or a greater number of parts to facilitate its installation, said positioning being able to be carried out either by the cover 7 or by the loading door 4.
The smoke outlet pipe 5 could also be provided on the cover 7, then in this case providing appropriate baffles ensuring the stagnation of the hot gases in the expansion chamber 6 before escaping through the chimney.
The invention applies to homes of all kinds and more particularly to domestic boilers for heating with hot water, vapor, or the like.
