 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 quelconque;

   blement la décharge, il faut, pour éviter cet état de choses, maintenir le niveau constant de façon qu'en se déchargeant la matière descende aux bords aussi rapidement qu'au centre et entre les bords et le centre, en maintenant ainsi un mouvement de vidage continu pour le dépôt dans   l'appareil   de mesurage;

Figure 1 est une coupe verticale de la portion in- férieure d'une tour, réservoir, trémie ou autre récipient, et une coupe longitudinale d'un porte-socs tournant agissant sur le fond du   rêaipient ;
Figure 2 est une coupe transversale de la tour, ou autre récipient, représentant   .en .plan   le porte-socs;

 échelle de ce porte-socs;
Figure 4 est une élévation d'une des dispositions que peut affecter le récipient emmagasinateur;
Figure 5 est une élévation d'une variante de récipient emmagasinateur;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

   Comme les lames sont placées alternativement sur l'un et l'autre côté du moyeu, le mouvement du flux est uniforme des parois latérales de la tour au centre-de celle-ci, parce que ces lames font simplement glisser la matière de dehors en dedans en un courant continu vers le centre et, en même temps, la matière elle-même tombe au centre à une vitesseunfiorme qui assure continuellement une   sarface   parfaitement de niveau du contenu au cours du mouvement de décharge, car les lames niveleuses situées au centre jouent leurs rôles qui est, de maintenir, concur-      remment avec les lames en arc de cercle, une surface parfai-    tement de niveau de-la matière en décharge;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

 'matière audehors sont associés pour assurer partout une descente uniforme de la matière, le niveau le plus élevé est maintenu et la tour se vide uniformément de manière à assurer, de la matière fraîche à chaque rechargement.

    "PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR STORING AND DISTRIBUTING
SUBJECTS"
The present invention consists of a method for storing and distributing materials, as well as a storage container for the practice of this method.
Its objects are to store slowly moving matter;) which are to a certain extent semi-fluid, that is to say which largely sink by their own weight and fill any container in a space relatively short in time and require some little help to get out; to ensure a continuous discharge of the material especially in measuring boxes or compartments which may be provided

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 any;

   to facilitate the exit of material from the tower or container in the desired proportion; to maintain constant the level of the material in a tower during the discharge operations because, as the usual state of the contents of a receptacle containing slowly moving material is a marked depression or sag in the center, while at the rim the material adheres strongly to the wall, hence it follows that any new material which enters flows into the funnel thus formed naturally, leaving almost permanently in the receptacle a considerable quantity of the contents thereof. - here at the same time that it affects prejudicia.

   In order to avoid this state of affairs, the level must be kept constant so that in discharging the material goes down to the edges as quickly as in the center and between the edges and the center, thus maintaining a movement of continuous emptying for deposit in the measuring device;

   to facilitate operations in paper mills, silk factories, stores or other places, so that the desired qualities of pulp or other material can be kept in reserve and be constantly drawn and that fresh material can always be assured and, in general, to offer, in factories or other establishments, a storage process, for raw or partially mantfactu-réesp materials allowing them to be extracted at will and to always maintain them in good condition .

  The method can be put into practice by means of an apparatus described below and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a vertical section of the lower portion of a tower, tank, hopper or other container, and a longitudinal section of a rotating coulter carrier acting on the bottom of the container;
Figure 2 is a cross section of the tower, or other container, showing the coulter carrier in plan;

 ladder of this coulter carrier;
Figure 4 is an elevation of one of the arrangements that may affect the storage container;
Figure 5 is an elevation of an alternative storage container;

Figure 6 is a cross section of the storage container shown in Figure 50. The container is shown here in the form of a tower 15.

   The bottom, 16, of this tower goes down from the wall of the tower to the central discharge port 17 at the bottom of which is a measuring chamber 18 that is to say that, although a simple box is shown below the discharge port, a measuring device of any desired type can be mounted in this box.

   In the center of the frame constituting the box, is the shaft 19 which rises in the tower, through the bearing surfaces 20 and 21, and at the upper end of which is mounted the, hub 23 of the coulter carrier 22. which is supported on staff 21.

   The arms 25 and 26 of this coulter carrier extend towards the walls of the tower and terminate near these walls and the arm 25 carries the coulters or saddles 27 and 28 formed by circular arc blades which s' extend in a direction such that they sweep the bottom of the tower, in cooperation with the coulters or blades 29 and 30 extending from the arm 26 in alternating positions with respect to the blades 27 and 28 so that all parts of the bottom are swept by.these blades in an arc of a circle.

   The radial leveling blades 31, 32 and 33 extend from the moeu. 23 of the coulter carrier and descend below the bottom of the tower, inside the metering chamber 18 so that the material in it is continuously leveled and descends, or falls, as well as possible. way to be constantly replaced.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

   The shaft is shown operated by the gear mechanism 34 (Fig. 4), suitably controlled, and the material discharged, is shown as transported, by some suitable arrangement of conveyor mechanism designated 35 '.
The operation is as follows
The tower 15 is loaded with material such as pulp for making paper, silk and other products, or any dense or granular material, and this material remains stored in reserve until desired. remove a small portion, or a considerable portion, remove it entirely, as the case may be; or it can be withdrawn continuously and the tower or container continuously recharged.

   We prepare things for the discharge of the material by placing under the central opening some container, preferably a measure of some kind, then we do. turn the shaft, which turns the coulter holder which completely sweeps the bottom with its coulters or blades in an arc of a circle, these lips directing, and even pushing, the material into the central discharge opening.

   As the blades are placed alternately on either side of the hub, the flow movement is uniform from the sidewalls of the tower to the center of it, because these blades simply slide the material out and out. into it in a direct current towards the center and, at the same time, the material itself falls to the center at a rate which continuously ensures a perfectly level sarface of the contents during the discharge movement, as the leveling blades in the center play their roles which is to maintain, concomitantly with the arcuate blades, a surface perfectly level with the material in discharge;

   consequently, -. like all the elements contributing to the flow of

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 The material outside is combined to ensure uniform material descent everywhere, the highest level is maintained and the tower empties evenly to ensure fresh material with each reloading.

   There is shown in Figures 5 and 6 another storage container arrangement in which the lower end is completely open and where, across this lower end, several conveyors operate which instead of sweeping a bottom. inclined, as in the arrangement first described, themselves form the bottom and work through it ;, these conveyors having transverse divisions which not only provide a means of measuring the material withdrawn from the container, but maintain uniform the level of the surface of the contents from one wall to another.

   This particular container is shown here as a square of the rectangular, so that the dispensing device has to move, in the form of endless conveyors, transversely to it.

   In this embodiment of the invention, the container, which is completely open at its lower end $ is designated by 36; the conveyors are indicated by 37 and the transverse divisions by 38.

   They are endless conveyors which are actuated in any convenient way and discharge the material onto other conveyors or into another chamber or container.

   In this second embodiment of the invention, the radial movement still exists; but it is extended to form a bottom for the container which can be stiffened in any way desired to bear the weight; 'The conveyors pass through the bottom surface and their divisions engage with the material coming from the lower end, this engagement being like a distribution so that all parts of the contents
