"ENSEIGNE LUMINEUSE A MIROIR TRANSPARENT "
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

"TRANSPARENT MIRROR ILLUMINATED SIGN"
The mirror has always attracted passers-by, but we have not yet thought of exploiting this attraction by combining it with an illuminated sign.
The transparent mirror illuminated sign, object of this invention, constitutes a new application of the mirror, but to adapt it to the illuminated sign it has been necessary to make it permeable to electric or solar light, - and to give it a black background so that it becomes a mirror again when the light source is removed.
In short, the illuminated mirror sign in question is
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
alternately a mirror, then a luminous sign. The alternation of electric light is given either by a thermal breaker, or by an electro-mechanical combinator, or an electro-magnet. Its principle can be applied to all kinds of advertising in different forms.
By way of example, the apparatus for carrying out the invention will be described below with reference to the appended drawing in which:
Fig. 1 schematically shows said device in longitudinal section,
Fig. 2 shows a luminous letter which can enter this sign.
In this drawing: a is the frame, b represents a glass, demi-glace or mirror, o is a very thin layer of silver plating, d represents a protective rubber layer, e is a protective glass, f represents a drawing made on transparent paper, tracing paper, window sticker or painting on glass, is a frosted glass maintaining the design if necessary and giving the background color to the light, h represents a faceted reflector preventing the loss of light, i is a lamp cylindrical in the case of electric light, j represents a luminous letter of itself, since it is constituted by a mirror, k is a dark region bypassing the letter.
This sign can be applied indoors, display cases, displays, in all exhibition places to promote and
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
publish a product, a brand, a social name, a building to determine a place and indicate its use. These devices can be presented in any frame and in any material.
The same sign can be applied to the outside in the form of an illuminated sign and be placed, if necessary, at a certain height, with the face of the mirror tilted towards the ground, the sign thus fulfills the aim sought: c ' that is to say, to preserve for the passer-by the attraction of the mirror and the advertising surprise. It is also possible to increase this appeal by advertising phrases whose letters are formed by the mirror and surrounded by a dark region. This last process can be applied to all interior and exterior signs, see fig. 2.
This sign can also be adapted to all traders or with mirrors used to decorate the interior of their shops and wishing to transform them with this system.
In addition to the advertising application, the system can be applied in the religious field, for sudden appearances (saints, holy pictures etc.) in the theater, on any stages or in the rooms.
