<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

'Dans l'exemple des figures 1 à 5, cette pièce rapportée présente une patte 10 par laquelle elle est âoudée sur la branche 5 et deux pattes rectilignes parallèles 11 séparées par un évidement 12. Ainsi que le montre la fige 3, grâce à cette conformation, les pièces rapportées 9 peuvent être décou. pées de façon continue et sans perte de matière, d'une bande
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

Hook for fixing cover plates,
The present invention relates to hooks used for fixing roofing sheets, of the kind in which the roofing plates, which overlap are held between two parallel branches of the hook which is fi, xed to the metal frame of the roof by a branch of the hook and by the folding around the iron of the frame of two legs forming part of an insert fixed to the hook by riveting or welding.
Its aim is to obtain, in hooks of this kind, a more economical manufacture than previously as well as the possible reinforcement of the pike itself at the location of the fold giving rise to the two parallel branches forming the housing of the lower cover plate -
As is well known in hooks of this kind, as hitherto constructed by the insert attached to
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the lower branch of the hook generally formed independently of two folding tabs intended to secure the roof to the iron, two additional opposing tabs forming at the front of the hook a double fixing hook.
This construction has the advantage, thanks to the passage of the insert over the lower branch of the hook, of ensuring that the latter is held on the iron of the roof frame and of preventing the lifting of the hook. hook under the action of the wind; on the other hand, it causes a loss of material, the insert having to be cut asymmetrically in order to provide, between the tabs forming - the double hook at the front, the space necessary to accommodate the folded part of the lower branch. crochet itself.
The current invention eliminates this loss of material and allows the die-cutting of inserts without loss out of a continuous strip and the formation of the hook with single or double fixing hook at the front and optionally. with reinforcement, from the hook proper to the en. right of the fold, a part of the insert, preferably fixed by welding, which can be folded or bent so as to follow the fold of the hook.
In order to make the invention clearly understood, various embodiments thereof will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Fig. 1 is a side elevational view of a first embodiment with a simple lifting hook and an insert assembled by welding with the hook itself,
Fig. 2 is a corresponding plan view.
Fig. 5 shows separately the shape of the added part and its cutting, with a punch, out of a continuous strip.

Fig 4 is a side elevational view, similar to that of Fig 1, of a second embodiment showing the reinforcement of the bending of the hook itself.
Figo 5 is a corresponding plan view.
Fig. 6 shows the cutout 'of the insert in this embodiment.
The figo? is a side elevational view of a third embodiment in which the insert, while contributing to the reinforcement of the bending of the hook proper, also forms, according to the construction already known, a double hook of attachment to the front of the hook itself
Fig. 8 is a corresponding plan view.
Figo 9 shows the cutting of the insert in this embodiment
In the various embodiments shown by figs 1-4 and 7, the hook itself is designated by 1 .. it forms in the ordinary way by its end 2 folded back, a la. housing for the upper cover plate 5 and is folded in 4 so as to give rise to a branch 5 which is parallel to the upper branch 1 and which forms the housing for the lower cover plate 60 This branch 5 ends in one end folded 7 forming a fixing hook taking on the iron 8 of the frame is shown in dotted lines in Figures 1-4 and 7.
With the branch 5, cooperates an attached part 9 fixed in the examples shown, by welding on the branch 5.
'In the example of Figures 1 to 5, this insert has a tab 10 by which it is elbow on the branch 5 and two parallel rectilinear tabs 11 separated by a recess 12. As shown in fig 3, thanks to this conformation, the inserts 9 can be uncoupled. weighed continuously and without loss of material, from a

continues the tab 10 being formed by the material falling from the part to form the recess 12.
When using the hook, 1. proper, the tabs 11 are folded down, as shown in dotted lines in FIG. 1, around the iron 8 of the frame so that the entire hook is held on this iron by the single front hook 7 and by the double rear hook formed by the folding of the legs 11.
The hook thus produced can, therefore, be constructed in a particularly economical manner, without loss of material and while having the advantage of being reinforced by the insert 9 which prevents it from being lifted under the action of the wind. relative to the structural bar 8.
This reinforcement can be further increased thanks to the invention by using all or part of the material of the insert 9 ', included between the parallel tabs 11 to double the thickness of the hook 1 proper to the inside. right of the fold 4.
Figures 4, 5 and 6 show a first embodiment of this kind. In this embodiment, the hook 1 is established as in the example of FIG. 1.
The insert 9 which has a uniform width over its entire length is cut from a continuous strip 13 by cross sections 14; it is provided simultaneously with the cutting, with two parallel lines or slits 15 which give rise to the tabs 11 and to a tongue 16. During the assembly of the part 9 with the branch 5 of the hook itself by the part 10, this tab 16 is folded upwards, as shown in FIG. 4, so as to match the curvature of the fold 4 of the hook 1 which is thus considerably reinforced.
The invention is obviously not limited to a specific form
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
mined from patch 9; any other shape capable of being cut without loss of material from a continuous strip, and possibly simultaneously forming the reinforcing tab 16 could also be suitable. For example, the pins 7, 8 and 9 show a third embodiment in which the insert 9 is cut from a continuous strip 17 so as to form not only the two rear tabs 11 and the reinforcing tab 16 but also two tabs 18 intended for form a double attachment hook on the frame iron 8 on either side of the hook 7 formed by the hook itself 1.
For this purpose, the reinforcing tongue 16 is extended by a part 19 cut between the tabs 18 of the neighboring part and corresponding to the recess 20 which must be left free between the tabs 18 (fig. 9), Figs. . 7 and 8 show the folding of parts 16-19 and 18 when assembling the insert with the hook itself.
