Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

  "Improvements in the manufacture of artificial filaments, threads, tapes, and the like".

   The present invention relates to the manufacture and production of colored filaments, threads, tapes and the like, made of viscose. It is known that colored yarns can be made from viscose containing dissolved dyestuffs and it has also been contemplated to make yarns from viscose with which an oil or oils is emulsified. 'Animal, vegetable or mineral origin.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   The inventors have found that colored filaments, threads, tapes and the like can be made by spraying viscose in an appropriate bath containing one or more liquids of animal, vegetable or mineral origin, insoluble in viscose and in which the coloring matter is dissolved. As examples of liquids which can be used in accordance with the invention, there may be mentioned petroleum and spermaceti oil and as an example of coloring matters, those which are known commercially under the name of red A Lithofor. and yellow A Lithofor.

   It is generally preferred to dissolve the coloring matter or coloring matters in the liquid in question before adding it to the viscose and the solution of coloring matters in the liquid can be very conveniently added to the viscose as described in the patent. 290,693.

   The colored cellulosic products obtained in accordance with the present invention are of particularly high value since the color is generally fixed firmly in the filament, yarn or the like, and is not easily removed during washing or washing. any other subsequent treatment to which it may be required.

   The following examples will show how the invention can be carried out in practice; however, the latter is not limited to these examples. In the examples below, the parts are expressed by weight.

  EXAMPLE 1. One part of ADS oil yolk is dissolved in 28 parts of high boiling petroleum oil; This solution is thoroughly mixed with 1,400 parts of viscose containing 7.1% cellulose. The air bubbles are removed from the solution which is then projected into a spinning bath as described in Example 2 of memory 406 of 1911. In this way colored threads with reduced luster are obtained.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   EXAMPLE 2. The process is identical to that of Example 1 with the difference that the part of oil yellow ADS mentioned above is replaced by 1/2 part of red A from Lithofor. We thus obtain a dull red thread.

   EXAMPLE 3 A portion of Lithofor yellow A is dissolved in
28 parts of oil, of emulsified spermaceti, that is to say of spermaceti oil in which hot air has been injected. 5.600 parts of viscose containing 7.1% cellulose are mixed with the solution and after having removed the air from the mixture, the latter is sprayed into a spinning bath as in the case described in Example 1. This gives rise to a bright yellow thread.

   In all the preceding examples, it is possible, instead of mixing the solution of coloring matter in oil, as a block with viscose, to add it to the latter according to the process described in the aforementioned specification N 290,693.

   CLAIMS. The / Process for the manufacture and production of filaments, threads, tapes and the like, consisting in spraying in a suitable bath, viscose containing one or more liquids of animal, vegetable or mineral origin, which are insoluble in viscose and in which the coloring matter is dissolved.
