La figure 9 est une vue en élévation d'une machine construite conformément à l'invention et dans laquelle l'entraînement du véhicule et de l'arbre agitateur s'effectue au moyen d'un petit moteur;
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
l'écoulement du sable sera touj ours proportionnelle à la vitesse d'avancement du véhicule;
La sableuse est généralement complétée par un élévateur 17 à godets qui peut être monté sur l'un des côtés du véhiculer la sableuse étant amenée près du tas de sable quil s'agit de charger dans le véhi- cule, l'élévateur, dont la partie inférieure est amenée près de la base du tas de sable, est mis en fonc- tionnement par le moteur même du véhicule au moyen;
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

This device has the following characteristics:
1 - The sand is stored in a hopper mounted on a vehicle frame which may or may not be automobile, the sand being able to be dumped on the road during the running of the vehicle by means of nozzles arranged at the lower part
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
of the hopper and suitably distributed over the width thereof;
2 - The opening and closing of the nozzles referred to under 1 are controlled from outside the hopper and can be simultaneous for all the nozzles or only apply to some of them. this;
3 - Towards the bottom of the hopper are arranged agitators intended to facilitate the flow of the sand through the flow nozzles and whose speed of rotation is a function of the forward speed of the vehicle on which the hopper is mounted;
4 - An elevator system allowing the sand to be picked up on the heap and its storage in the hopper can be added to the sandblasting machine when the latter is mounted on an automobile frame and be put into operation by any suitable transmission by means of the said motor. frame.
On the attached drawing:

Figure 7 shows schematically the bottom of the hopper and the shaft of the agitators;
FIG. 7 'represents schematically the organization of the shutter of the flow nozzles;
FIG. 8 schematically shows how the drive of the agitator shaft takes place;
Fig. 9 is an elevational view of a machine constructed in accordance with the invention and in which the drive of the vehicle and of the agitator shaft is effected by means of a small motor;
Figures 1, 2, 3 and 4 show a sandblasting machine mounted on an automobile chassis.
On the frame 1 is fixed a bucket 2 of suitable shape and the walls of which are inclined to allow the flow of the sand towards the lower part of the hopper.
At the lower part of the hopper 2 and in the embodiment shown in the drawing are arranged two lines of outflow nozzles 3 and 3 ', nozzles through which the sand, when the machine is in operation, can be spread on the sole.
The nozzle lines 3 and 3 'are arranged transversely to the frame and in such a way that one of the nozzle lines occupies only a part of the width of the hopper, the other line of nozzles occupying the other part, so that one can, by the judicious opening of one or the other of the lines of nozzles, proceed to the sanding of the road on any desired width.
Nozzles 3 and 3 'can be opened
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
or closed by means of a shutter 4 (fig, / 3) carrying holes of a diameter corresponding to the section of the nozzles and which can be moved vertically, so as to be caused either to unmask the nozzles; or to seal them.
The longitudinal movements of the shutters 4 can be obtained by oscillating, around axes 5, levers 6 and 7, the control of which is brought, by means of any suitable linkage, close to the driver who can determine the opening or closing of one or the other of the two nozzle lines by acting on levers 8 and 9,
At the bottom of the hopper and in line with the two nozzle lines 3 and 3 'are arranged the agitators 10 and 11.
These agitators consist of any number of arms fixed to shafts 12 and 13 which cross transversely through the bottom of the hopper.
At one of the ends of each of the shafts 12 and 13 of the agitators, a toothed wheel 14 is fixed on the outside of the hopper, still in engagement with a chain 15, the tension of which can be adjusted by the vertical displacement of a pinion 16.
Pinion 16, which drives chain 15, can be rotated by any suitable transmission connecting it to one of the wheels of the vehicle or to the differential shaft of the automobile chassis, when, in said chassis, the control of the rear wheels is done by chain.
It is easy to realize that thanks to this organization, the speed of rotation of the agitators whose function is to facilitate
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
the flow of sand will always be proportional to the forward speed of the vehicle;
this will result in a distribution of the sand on the road which will always be more or less the same,
The sandblaster is generally completed by a bucket elevator 17 which can be mounted on one of the sides of the conveyor, the sandblaster being brought close to the pile of sand which is to be loaded into the vehicle, the elevator, whose lower part is brought near the base of the pile of sand, is put into operation by the engine of the vehicle itself by means;
for example, a belt 18 mounted on a pulley 19 keyed to the cardan shaft of the vehicle and attaching a second pulley 20 keyed to an intermediate shaft 21, said shaft itself being integral / meshing with a chain of a chain sprocket 22 which is, on the other hand, engaged with the drive sprocket 23 of the elevator.
We can easily load the hopper, a sheet 24 inclined and placed at the upper part of said hopper, to the right of the elevator, automatically deflecting the sand jet towards the center of the hopper.
The elevator, outside of its operation, can be brought back against the chassis of the vehicle to occupy the vertical position 17 ', this movement being obtainable for example by means of a connecting rod 25 articulated on an axis 26 integral with the frame and the free end of which can slide in a suitable slide of the elevator.
FIGS. 5 to 8 relate to a simpler embodiment of the invention and constituting in a way a sandy wheelbarrow which can be moved and operated by hand,
In this case, hopper 2 is directly
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
mounted on the wheels 27 and 28 and can be moved with arms by action on the stretchers 29, the end of which can be joined by means of a transverse bar 30 of suitable shape.
The shaft 12 of the agitator 10 disposed transversely at the lower part of the hopper is integral with a pinion 31 which can engage with a toothed wheel 32 when, at. by jabotage 33, this wheel is made integral in rotation with the wheel 27.
The longitudinal displacement of the wheel 32; in order to achieve the clutch of this wheel with the wheel 27, can be obtained by means of a linkage 34 which can be acted on by means of a lever 35 articulated at 36 on the outside of the hopper; a tension spring 37 is disposed between the end of the linkage 34 and the lever 35; so as to facilitate the engagement of the toothed wheels.
At the same time that it controls the starting of the agitator 10, the lever 35 (fig. 7 ') controls the longitudinal movements of the shutter 37, said shutter being disposed at the bottom of the hopper and above. sand flow nozzles 38 in the same manner as in the previous embodiment.
To facilitate work with such a sanding wheelbarrow, it is possible to place in any suitable manner and on the stretchers a motor 41, removable or not, the motor shaft of which will attack, after suitable rotation, one of the wheels of the wheel. wheelbarrow (freeze 9), In this case, a third carrying wheel 39 will be provided at the front of the vehicle; the role of the worker will then be limited to directing the sandblaster thus equipped.
To facilitate the filling of the hopper ,.
