Arrangement for mounting an accessory motor in the frame of a bicycle.
The object of the present inventior. is an arrangement for mounting an accessory motor in the space surrounded by the frame of a bicycle. In ordinary bicycles, which are not already equipped during their manufacture with fasteners for an engine to be mounted in the frame, special accessory means are required for the application of an engine, and in most cases, flanges embracing the frame tubes are used for this purpose.
In accordance with this invention, a double flange with two branches is employed, the ends of which embrace the frame tubes above the crankset upwards from the latter, and whose top facing upwards carries the axis of oscillation. , on which the motor rests by an ear, provided at its lower end, in the plane of the frame, while the motor is wedged with the aid of a flange, embracing at a higher point a frame tube directed upwards, this flange carrying an adjustment device, by means of which the motor can be pivoted around the support axis, which at the same time allows the chain tension to be adjusted.
In order to allow the use of a single model flange in frames of different shape, which come from different factories.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
At least one of the clamping points of the double flange has been provided with a spherically shaped adjusting sleeve, adapting to the position of the respective frame tube.
In the drawing appended to 1a, FIG. 1 is shown the new arrangement of the fasteners and of the engine parts in side view. Figs. 2 and 3 show the bracket at right angles in various views. Fig. 4 is the. top view of the top attachment flange, showing the application of reinforcement tubes to this flange.
to fix a motor 8 by its lower end in the frame of a bicycle, use is made of an attachment flange in two parts in square tome, which embraces by its branch 17 above the bottom bracket 5 the saddle support tube 10, and the other branch 18 of which embraces the lower tube 19 of the frame, the differences in diameter of the tubes being able to be compensated by internal linings. The reunion of the two halves is effected in the usual way by screw bolts. In the middle part, the faces opposite to each other of the two halves are recessed so as to form a recess 20 for receiving the lug 9 of a piece of intermediate support 21.
The flange and the intermediate piece are hinged together by a screw bolt 7, passing through the lug 9 and the top of the. flange, The widening of the branch 18 which embraces the tube 19 is worked in the form of a hollow sphere and contains a ring in two parts 22, the periphery of which has a corresponding spherical shape. During the assembly of the flange by the screw bolts, this baue is placed around the tube 19 of the frame, while in the branch 18 it adjusts its position according to the angle formed between them the two tubes 10 and 19? before being completely tightened. This adjustment ring makes it possible to obtain a certain fixing of the flange without having to fear a tensioning of the frame by the flange.
The intermediate piece 21 is fixed, if necessary in a detachable manner and in a suitable manner, to the housing 8 of the engine and embraces to a certain extent the lower part of this housing.
It carries the engine and strengthens the crankcase,

The device for fixing the upper part of the housing 8 to the saddle support tube 10 is also arranged in the form of a flange 11, on which the adjusting screws 13, starting from the housing, are adjustable in the ears 12 by means of nuts 14. The flange 11 also has lateral threaded pivots 23, on which are secured by their front end and by means of nuts the reinforcement tubes 16 going to the end 24 of the rear fork.
