@ Covering plate of artificial wood or similar material for floors, partitions, stair treads, window sills, etc.

The cladding boards of artificial wood or the like absorb moisture and are permeable.

They have thus been able to be used successfully so far only to cover floors, partitions or other dry walls, failing which they unravel and detach from the bottom on which they are placed.

In addition, their installation always takes place in the jointing mortar. This one however eliminates sooner or later alkalis which are noticed on the external faces of the plates, in the form of efflorescences, which eat away

 colors and damage the surface.

The present invention relates to a covering plate made of artificial wood or similar material, the novelty of which lies in that this plate is provided on its underside and on the lower part of its edges with a pleated cardboard joined to this plate, for example an asphalt cardboard which acts to insulate it against humidity and heat. The sheet is completely protected by the cardboard, both on its underside and on the joints, against the penetration of humidity which may come from partitions, floors, etc. which are covered by means of these plates, so that they can be installed in a durable manner in places where more or less humidity is to be expected.

Likewise, the above-mentioned alkaline efflorescence can no longer occur on this new plate, because the insulating board also pushes these removed substances away from the plate.

The manufacture of the plate is advantageously carried out by introducing into the form the pleated cardboard, the edges of which folded upwards have a height of approximately half the thickness of the plate, and then casting the mass of artificial wood. Using the grooves and tongues of the cardboard, an intimate connection is made between this cardboard and the mass. In addition, these grooves and tongues provide a solid anchorage of the plate in the cement mortar, when the plates are laid thereon.

The accompanying drawing shows in Figure 1 a perspective view and in Figure 2 a cross section of a plate.

coating established according to the invention a is the plate itself, and b designates the insulating pleated cardboard covering its underside as well as its edges up to a certain height.
