<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

USEFUL for portioning ice cream or other similar food materials.
The present invention relates to utensils for portioning ice cream or other similar food materials, in which an arcuate knife receives a reciprocating motion within a cup of ice cream. semi-spherical shape.
In the known utensils of this kind the various organs necessary to impart the movement to the knife, such as the shank of the knife, the springs, the levers eto., Are completely exposed, so that the molding materials could easily reach these small organs. , which therefore required cleaning which was always very difficult and time consuming.
Now, the object of the present invention consists in that the shank of the knife is guided inside a tube for supporting the cutting, and that this tube as well as the

control necessary to print the movement with the knife, are arranged away from any contact inside a handle.
All the commando units are therefore protected in this way against external influences, and on the outside of the utensils in question there are only smooth parts, easy to clean.
Apart from these advantages, which are important from a hygienic point of view, with respect to the known arrangements, the invention also has great advantages from a technical point of view, thanks to the elimination of the long and expensive work of castings. , work which was always necessary in the known arrangements. In addition, the material expenditure is appreciably less, which facilitates the export of the article.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention. In this drawing:
Fig.l is a longitudinal section of the utensil.
Fig.2 is a corresponding section, but in which the sectional tube is shown in elevation and the section in plan view.
Fig.3 is a cross section along A-B of fig.l.
The cup 1, intended to receive the material to be portioned, is rigidly connected to a tube 2, for example by means of welding or any other similar way. Inside the tube 2 can turn the rod 3 of the knife, for example in one, two or more guide rings 4. At the height of the cut, the rod 3 carries the knife 5, the shape of which is adapted to that of the cup and which is rotatably supported by a pivot 6, arranged in the cup opposite the rod 3 of the knife. The free end of the tube 2 is mounted in a wooden handle 7, an artificial material to the other analogue, and fixed in this handle in any way desired to be secured against
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
any rotational movement.
At the free end of the rod
3 of the knife is a toothed pinion 8, which meshes with a spring rack 9, making an angle with the rod 3. It has been found advantageous to use a spiral spring 11, housed in a socket 10 , and a rack, provided at its end with a button 12, which allows it to be pushed back conveniently with the thumb of the hand.
The tube 2 and the spring sleeve 10 can be mounted separately in the handle, or these two parts can be connected together. It goes without saying that in the latter case the handle must be in two pieces, which are then screwed or riveted together. In the first case, the cutting-holder tube is preferably held by means of screws, rivets or the like. The rack can also be milled around its entire circumference, therefore in the form of a screw, which at the same time prevents the rack from jamming when pressing the button 12.
The small pinion 8 is fixed by a pin 13 or in any other way to the cutting rod 3 and is preferably supported on one of the guide rings 4. By hollowing out the bush 10 in a corresponding manner, it is possible to can use the pin 13 at the same time as a guide pin, two extensions in the form of pivots 14 of the tube 2 then limiting the rotation of the knife holder rod and therefore the range of movement of the knife 5.
The handling of such a tool is as follows: The cup is filled, and then by a pressure exerted on the rack 9, the knife 5 is moved along the internal wall of the cup to detach the material, which makes it possible to place the contents of the cup on a plate or other similar support.
