ALLIAGE AMTIFRICTION

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

AMTIFRICTION ALLOY
The present invention relates to a novel anti-friction alloy. The inventor has found, by experience, that by adding to the normal constituents of a lead bronze, quantities, moreover very small, but in determined proportions of antimony, nickel, cadmiu, and zinc, an alloy is obtained which perfectly meets all the technical conditions required of an anti-friction metal, and furthermore lends itself perfectly to machining.
Methodical tests have shown the inventor that. , these results were obtained by maintaining the weight proportions of the various constituents of the alloy between

The alloys in accordance with the invention are prepared as follows: the raw materials used are the metals as found in commerce; they are first melted, in an ordinary foundry crucible, copper and nickel mixed with the molten mass, in
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
then and successively add antimony, lead, tin, zinc and cadmium. We stir frequently and when the mixture is sufficiently intimate, we pour. Of course, the proportions of metals used as raw materials are calculated taking into account the losses in melting so as to arrive in the finished product with the desired composition.
The products thus obtained, which are then used for the lining of the bearing shells, give anti-friction coatings which in use only experience very little wear, do not damage the journals, offer excellent plasticity and are machined. perfectly.
