La présente invention concerne un couvercle qui est destiné de préférence-à fermer de façon étanche à l'air des boites à conserve utilisées. 



   Jusqu'à présent les anciennes boîtes à conserve qui devaient être utilisées à nouveau étaient découpées par des machines et fermées de nouveau par des machines d'obtura- tion. Dans cette façon de procéder, la capacité de la boite à conserve découpée devient plus petite. Dans le ménage on ne dispose par de semblables machines de découpage et de fermeture, de sorte que les boites à conserve ouvertes doi- vent être rejetées. 



   Suivant la présente invention, les boites à conserve ouvertes sont fermées par un couvercle qui est enfoncé sans -aucun moyen accessoire, à la main, sur la boite et ferme celle-ci immédiatement de façon étanche à l'air. Cette fermeture hermétique est obtenue par le fait que dans une rainure annulaire du fond du couvercle est posé un anneau

 de caoutchouc d'environ 3 à 6 mm. d'épaisseur et que la paroi périphérique cylindrique du couvercle est   pourvue''de   languettes ou de pattes formant ressorts qui, lors de   l'ap-   plication du couvercle, s'adaptent en-dessous du bord épais- si de la boîte à conserve et maintiennent le couvercle en position de façon sûre. La boite remplie au préalable peut alors être soumise à une cuisson sans que le couvercle saute. 



   Pour assurer dans chaque cas un' engagement des pattes de façon sûre, les coins des pattes peuvent être recourbés vers l'intérieur du couvercle. En outre, le fond du couver- cle possède une partie centrale plane entourée d'un bourre- let et qui se raccorde à une partie en tronc de cône, ainsi que différents renfoncements annulaires de sorte qu'il peut se bomber vers le haut sous l'effet de la pression prenant naissance lors de la cuisson. 



   Le dessin représente à titre d'exemple une forme de réalisation du nouveau couvercle.

Dans la forme de réalisation du couvercle suivant les figs. 1 et 2, le fond consiste en une partie centrale plane 1 qui est délimitée par un bourrelet ou un renfoncement 2 refoulé vers l'intérieur du couvercle. Le renfoncement an-   nulaire 2   se raccorde à une partie en tronc de   cône µ   qui possède avantageusement un gradin   plat 4.   La partie 5 en forme de tronc de cône est délimitée par un renfoncement ou par un bourrelet 5 refoulé vers l'extérieur qui se raccorde au bord proprement dit 6, relativement épais.

 un anneau en caoutchouc 7. La paroi périphérique 8 du cou- vercle possède un certain nombre de languettes ou de pattes 
9 qui sont recourbées quelque peu vers l'intérieur du cou- verole et s'engagent en-dessous du bord replié 10 de la boi- te à conserve. Le bord de la boîte à conserve est donc ser- ré solidement entre l'anneau de caoutchouc souple 7 et les différentes pattes 9, ce qui produit une fermeture herméti- que de la boîte. Pour obtenir une fixation sûre par les pattes 9, ces dernières possèdent des coins repliés vers l'intérieur 11 et 12. 



   Des essais approfondis faits avec des boîtes à conser- ve qui ont été fermées au moyen du nouveau couvercle ont prouvé que le contenu de la boite reste pratiquement stérile et que l'on peut cuire les boites sans inconvénient, sans que le couvercle saute ou que de l'air   pénètre.   



   Le nouveau couvercle peut êgalement être employé pour la fermeture de cruches à lait, de boîtes de tôle, de réci- pients à huile, etc.. Partout où on désire réaliser une fermeture simple et hermétique de boîtes ou de récipients, on se sert d'un couvercle suivant la présente invention qui doit être conformé d'après la forme du récipient.

   According to the present invention, the open cans are closed by a cover which is pressed without any accessory means, by hand, on the can and immediately closes the latter in an airtight manner.    To ensure secure engagement of the tabs in each case, the corners of the tabs may be curved inwardly of the cover.
