<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

Electrical apparatus for skill tests, with delivery of the gain and automatic invalidation.
The present invention relates to an electrical apparatus for skill proofs combined with an automatic device for the introduction of coins for the delivery of tokens representing the possible gain.
Address proof devices are already known which, after fulfillment of a determined condition, automatically deliver a token. These known devices, however, operate exclusively mechanically and often by adding complicated and very bulky auxiliary devices.
According to the invention, the apparatus operates essentially electrically or electro-mechanically. For this device, an object, an electrical conductor, must be directed towards a contact forming the goal, without this object to be moved thus touching any other of the contact parts, through which it must pass. The arrangement further prevents the issuance of a winning token when, without first inserting the coin into the mechanism, the current conducting object is brought to the goal.
In addition the connections are arranged so that after the delivery of a gain or that after the contact has been made by the current conducting object, this current is interrupted, so that, to cause a new works-

of the device, a new coin must be inserted into the mechanism.
Some embodiments of this device are shown in the accompanying drawings.

The fig.l to 4 show the casing 1 in which the connection device is housed. We see the cane 2 with its handle 3 as well as the contact pieces 4, 5, in front of which the car.ne 2 must pass to reach the contact 6 forming the goal. In addition, we notice the opening 7 for the introduction of the coin and the trough 8 for delivering the tokens.
The appliance can be connected to a suitable current source by a cable 9 fitted with the plug 10. If, by directing the card 2 towards the goal, the contact parts 4 or 5 are touched to the right or to the left, the inserted coin is lost. If we can move rod 2 forward so that it reaches the goal formed
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
by contact 6 without touching contacts 4 and 5, the electrical device for delivering the tokens will be actuated and it will deliver a token in the form of a disc, a cylinder or a ball.
The device for delivering the tokens is constructed as follows (fig. 7 to 9): Under a corridor 11, intended for the tokens 12, is placed a drawer 13 having an opening 14, which, in this exemplary embodiment, allows each once the removal of a token 12. The drawer 13 can move between a sliding surface 15 and an intermediate piece 16 which has an outlet opening 17. This device further comprises an electromagnet 18, of which the The frame 19 is mechanically connected to the drawer 13 by a connecting piece 20. The outgoing token 12 rolls on a second passage 21 and passes through an opening 22 which is located in the wall 23 of the device. A window 24 is placed behind a special inspection window 25.
The token delivery device shows, in the rest position, how a token 12 has arrived from the drawer 13 into the opening 14. If now an electric current is started in the winding of the electromagnet 18 ( fig. 9), the frame 19 is attracted and drives the drawer 13 upwards. Due to this movement, the token 12 rolls through the opening 17 of the intermediate piece 16, falls on the next corridor 21 and finally out of the apparatus in the bucket 8. If the current is again interrupted in the winding of the electromagnet 18, the armature 19 thereof (fig.7) and the slide 13 which there is suspended return to the rest position. One or more tokens, depending on the arrangement of the device, then roll in the opening of the drawer 13 and the latter is thus ready for a new delivery.
According to fig. 5 and 6, the coin 26 introduced into the mechanism can for example also be directly brought into play because it is driven on a visible corridor 27 and is stopped by the lug 28 d 'a rotary ratchet 29. When the rod 2 is correctly directed on the contact forming the goal 6 (fig.2), the electromagnet 18 attracts the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
pawl 29 (fig. 5) upwards, so that it delivers, on the one hand, passage to the exit for one or more coins and, on the other hand, stops by another lug 30 the following coins until the pawl 29 drops back to the rest position and the latter coins can advance to the first lug 28.
If the hallway
27 is completely filled with coins, excess coins are led by a special strip 31 to the cash register
32.
According to Figs. 10 to 12, the apparatus is provided with a device which, after the introduction of a coin 26, connects it to a current source 33 and thus makes it capable of functioning.
The coin 26 introduced into the mechanism and coming from the verifier 34 establishes a circuit because it connects two contact bars 35, 36. However, so that the circuit remains despite the termination of this connection, it is provided a device which establishes a connection of the contact pieces as long as it is not interrupted by a second device also provided. A stop relay or main relay, consisting of an electromagnet 37, an armature 38 and, mounted on the latter, an auxiliary contact 39, is interposed in the circuit.
From the current source 33, which is provided here in the form of a transformer, the phase u of which is drawn in dotted lines and the phase w of which is in solid lines, a conductor goes directly to the winding of the electro -Magnet 37. On the one hand, the other conductor goes, through the contacts 40, 41, 42, to a contact 43 of the relay 37, the contact piece 44 giving the possibility of interrupting the connection 41,42 and as a result of isolating the contact piece 43 from this conductor; on the other hand, the conductor u goes towards the contact piece 35.
From the contact piece 36, which is placed near the contact piece 35, so that they are electrically connected when the coin 26 falls over them, a conductor starts which. goes through contacts 45, 46, 47,48 and
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
ends at the other end of the winding of the relay 37. If now the coin 26, after passing through the coin verifier 34, performs the binding of the two contact pieces 35, 36, the current necessary to achieve a flow of magnetic forces, lifting the armature 38, is conducted for a short time to the winding of the relay 37, so that the contact pieces 43,49 are connected by the auxiliary contact 39 coupled to frame 38.
It thus occurs at relay 37, by contacts 40,41, 44, 42,43, 39,49, 50, 51, 48, and by the winding of relay 37 a circuit closure of terminal u of transformer 33 to the other terminal of this transformer. The armature 38 will be maintained, even when the coin 26 has left the contact pieces 35,36 and it will be by means of the closed auxiliary contact 39 until the auxiliary contact 44 has interrupted the connection 41, 42 or that the auxiliary contact 51 has interrupted that 50,48.
In order to prevent any fraud on the part of: users of the apparatus, the latter is provided, according to the invention, with corresponding security devices, which allow foolproof operation of the apparatus.
On the one hand, the security devices in question oblige the player to introduce the prescribed currency before using the device and, on the other hand, they perform, when the signal or delivery device is called, a reciprocal and immediate electrical locking, so that after the triggering of one of the devices, the other can no longer be triggered and that, to subsequently put the device back into operation, they require the introduction into the mechanism of 'a new coin.
The operation of the device is as follows.
When a coin 26 is introduced into the mechanism (fig. 12), the latter establishes, for a short time, the connection between the contact pieces 35 and 36. The winding of the relay 37 receives thus the current u necessary to produce
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
a flow of magnetic forces and attracts the armature 38, causing the auxiliary contact to connect the contact pieces 43, 49.
The connection thus made is indicated by the lighting of a signal lamp 52, which is mounted in parallel with the coil of relay 37. By closing of the contact parts 43, 49, by means of the auxiliary contact 39 from the relay 37, the metal rod 2, to be moved by the player and which has a cable 53 and a handle 3, receives the current u by 40,41, 44,42, 43,39, 49,50, 53. The player or the candidate subjected to the test, must now seek to reach with the metal rod 2, now charged with a current, the contact piece 6, and this without thus touching one of the contacts 4 or 5, in front of which this rod 2 must go.
If the blow is successful, the winding of the electromagnet 18 of the token delivery device receives, during the contact exerted by the rod 2 on the contact piece 6, the current u necessary to produce a flow of force. magnetic and it attracts the frame 19, which lifts the drawer 13 (fig. 9), in the opening 14 of which the token 12 is located, which can then arrive outside through the opening of the intermediate piece 16.
On the drawer 13, there is an auxiliary contact 51 which is automatically raised with this drawer 13 and thus opens the connection 50, 48. As a result, the circuit to the main relay 37 is interrupted and the armature 38 and its part. auxiliary contact 39 fall out. But then the rod 2 could no longer conduct the current u and the control lamp 58, which must warn the player or the candidate subjected to the test of the achievement of the imposed condition, could no longer light up, because the Interruption of contacts 50, 48 or 43,49 takes place in a fraction of a second. This is why contact pieces 40,55 exist in the device for delivering the tokens and which, at the very instant of the interruption of the contacts 50,48, are connected by the auxiliary contact 51.
An accessory closure is thus established, which of course only remains until the rod 2 separates from the contact piece 6. After the rod 2
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
has separated from the contact piece 6, the winding of the electromagnet 18 will also be without current and it will drop the armature 19 as well as the spool 13 (fig. 7), which will also cause that the contacts 40,55 will automatically be interrupted and the contacts 50,48 closed. A current can therefore no longer be established, because the contacts 43, 49 at the main relay 37 have already been interrupted. If the rod is to receive the current u again, it is necessary to repeat the introduction into the mechanism of a coin 26; only the series of movements is repeated as described above.
The arrangement of the contacts 40, 55, 50, 48, 51 of the token delivery device constitutes a particular characteristic of the invention.
The mobile metal cane 2 also has a safety contact 45, 47, 46, which must prevent a player or a candidate subjected to the test obtaining by fraud a token, that is to say that he can d 'first touch the contact piece 6 with the rod 2 and then introduce the coin. The safety contact 45, 47, 46 will prevent this project, because as soon as the rod is moved, the contact 46 will separate from the contacts 45,47 and the conductor coming from the contact piece 36 and going to the winding of the main relay 37 will be interrupted. As a result of the movement of the rod 2, that is to say the interruption of the contacts 45, 47, 46 of the rod 2 or movable object 2, it is therefore impossible to produce the closing of the main circuit by the introduction of a coin 26.
The arrangement of the contacts 45, 47, 46 on the rod or mobile object 2 likewise constitutes a particular characteristic of the invention.
The device also has an arrangement which interrupts the closed circuit by the main $ relay 37 when the rod 2 touches the contact parts 4,5. The operation is very simple. When one of the parts 4 or 5 is contacted by the rod 2, a winding of the electromagnet 56 receives the current u sent by the transformer 33, which lifts an armature 57 carrying a contact part 44 which interrupts contacts 41,42, through which passes
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
the main circuit. By switching on the control lamp 54, the candidate being tested learns that by touching, for lack of dexterity, contact 4 or 5 with rod 2, he has triggered a so-called dependency relay, which caused the main circuit to be cut.
To constitute it again a new introduction of a coin is necessary. This arrangement is yet another particular characteristic of the invention.
