Improvements to mine uprights.
The present invention relates to improvements to mine uprights of the type comprising aligned weight members, namely a main or lower member and an auxiliary or upper member, and an interposed wedge device.
One of the aims of the invention is to provide a high stability upright construction. Other features and advantages of the invention will appear below.
@ In the accompanying drawings which show, by way of example, various forms of the invention, FIGS. 1 and 2 are partial elevation views, perpendicular to each other,

11-13 center two other variants.
If we refer to fig. 1 to 3, it can be seen that the upright comprises a main or lower pushing element 1, the upper end face of which has an inclined seat 2 for a wedge 3, and an auxiliary or upper pushing element

Other means of preventing complete ejection of the wedge may be provided.
One flange of the main element 1 is folded back to form a foot 1 ', the other flange being shaped to present a seat for the folded-back flange.
In the modified construction shown in Figs. 4 and 5 ', the guide means enclosing the upper pushing element 4 is constituted by a bracket comprising side plates 16 fixed to the flanges of the lower element 1 and connected by pieces of bridge 17 fixed to the upper ends of the side plates 16 and extending parallel to the core of the element. The upper thrust member 4 is made integral with the lower member 1 by means of a penetrating hook bolt 18. in an opening of the web of the element 4 and in an opening of one of the bridge parts II ?.
In the variant shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, the corner device is formed by complementary elements 19, 20, in which the sum of the angles of inclination can exceed the critical angle.
In operation, the upper corner member 19 is first seated and the spring stops 21 then collapse into the holes 22 of the side plates 23 so that the e-

The upper corner element 19 is held against displacement. The lower corner element 20 is then forced into the device. As it is understood, the inclination of the lower corner member considered by itself is less than the critical angle.

To remove the wedge device, tension is applied to a chain or rope or. an equivalent member connected to the Junction, articulated connecting rods 20 fixed by pivots to the spring stops 21.
In the construction shown in Figs. 8, 9 and 10, the main or lower pushing element 25 is of tubular section and is surrounded at its upper end by a box-shaped yoke 28 serving to guide and enclose the upper pushing element 29 in cross section. H.
In the variant shown in FIGS. 11, 12 and 13, the yoke 30 is shaped to fit the main or lower thrust member 31 of tubular section.
